Subject: Is Sokker dying?

2009-11-03 22:02:31
Also, the users that keep bitching and complaining all the time should do us all a big favour and quit this great game!!

Juniors system....brilliant

Juniors system....tragic :D:D just kidding ;) It's great of course. I have just bad luck in it - in more than 3 seasons I have my YS opened I have pulled only one reasonable junior - but still he was sold for 200.000€ :(

There are many minor improvements that can be done but the fundamental is great :) Some international cup would be nice to have but I think there are some things that can have higher priority as it would be a cup only for the minority of users... The most important is to establish some system to motivate newbies and to prevent them from making some stupid actions they were used to do in other managers. (I am participating in mentoring system in Czech republic. I write mails to newcomers just a day after they got their team and it is far from being rare that they invest money in stupid way - eg building 100 seats with roof etc. When they are out of money they lose their motivation and start to blame Sokker for it...)

It is not dying, but is completely stalled, at least in the part where most of the old players want improvement: The Match Engine.

There was some light some seasons ago, but then the change got rolled back, and nothing else has come from the devs since then.

I hope that they will introduce ME changes at the end of this season.

Yes - it would be great :)

can we also include a physics fix for the ME in that? i'm tired of seeing uber wind resistance in my matches :X

Sorry... its was the beans.

-sokker still has the greatest match engine
-sokker still has the greatest training system (with popups, juniors etc)
-sokker still has the greatest match viewer

why should we worry?why need to change something that works well? just because we r bored ? or ask yourself : what if tomorrow Sokker will not be here anymore?....

i voted yes, dying
1/ in (vain) hope this would bring a reaction

other ideas:
a/ i was very involved with another online manager (TM), this game has a lot of communication, development, i won everything there including champions league...and i quit after about a year. main reasons were transfer market and ME was just text.

b/ sokker is an interesting system and i think its very fragile. if it was bought by say EA, we would see a lot of glitter, PR (read communication) and changes, but we may end up not liking them at all. because they would be aimed at an introduction of paid features and bringing in as many paying users as possible. very little attention would be given to the 300 senior users who discuss in this thread.

c/ i used an anonymous mod to make an offer to buy sokker or form a JV, the attempt was ridiculed by the owners. this was a good signal for me, since they dont think its dead. I think a JV of current team and someone with marketing background would be beneficial and some spare developers and sysadmins would also be an advantage. But as i said before, unless the buyer is one of the 300 discussing here, i think we wouldnt like most of the new dynamics.

therefore:
D/ Dont ask was sokker can do for you, but what you can do for sokker!

I voted no because

the main principles of the game retain. There are of course some signs of stagnation but it can change anytime.

There is lively forum, many true sokker addicts and the game has been running rather smoothly recently.

As also jirka mentioned there are imho 2 potential threats atm.:

1) takeover of Sokker by another owner - and following change in game principles
2) technical problems - if devs are no longer enjoying game maintenance they might not be effective in solving them

if none of it happens, sokker may live forever ;)

I think i'll stop play this game soon... i'm quite tired to play this game.

So i voted YES.
2009-11-04 13:21:26
I think you won`t quit it.
2009-11-04 13:33:30
maybe ... but i spent less time in Sokker. My team is getting older , my account balance is always in loss , i haven't got nice future players in the reserves , i think that i won't quit only because i use Sokker as a social network like facebook!

Currently working on a mmporg, but coding is such a nightmare im not supried the devs have slow progress. this game has improved massively from its first seasons though, so i dont think its dying, but slowly deaccelarating.
