Subject: Is Sokker dying?
Nice all those thing to get people here to play Sokker, but that is not the problem....
In the past we did have a lot of managers, without all those things.
Problem is the way Sokker is now..., bad communication, that is it.
So people are leaving because they have waited long enough for this to change, now they know it will never change.

Something did change, Arnau is much more on the Forum Bugs / Ideas (en) and I don't think that is a coincidence :)
There should be a video tutorial, would change a lot.
There is a video in it how to make a tactic and a lineup, and also pictures like this:
But still it's not enough as the tutorial is to long and to general.

I wouldn't say it's dying as such in some regions, I'd personally say that we're going through a transitional period, especially in Sokker Cymru, the highest number of users I've seen since I joined (April 2009) was perhaps 30 at most, and it's 23 atm, so there's a sign of new users coming through. It's just a case of getting these new users to remain interested in the game, there are a minority that stay in the game for longer than a few months, but most of them only sign up and then never log in afterwards, it's like a Michelin-Star restaurant that happens to be incredibly busy, there are a few that stay and get to enjoy the food, but the majority are impatient and refuse to stay.

first of all all this proces of making tactic is too complicated
and not intuitive at all.
tutorial shouldn't be needed in well prepared game. atleast not about technical aspects

First the bugs should be resolved. And ,an optional 3d viewer -with the posibility to uise this too of course- should increase a lot the number of users .A simbolic sum of 5-10 000 euros for voting sokker once or twice a day on different sites.
I think its dying, we shall see what will be in a few years I guess.
Present and past handlings of this game show a clear pattern and path downhill.

Sokker needs a really good update so it looks 2012. It now looks like a pimped up late 90's site and that is absolutely not helping to get the number of managers go up.
A new Dutch manager wrote to me the site looks like 'an ugly old eastern European concrete building stuffed with a lot of modern equipment'. I think this is very well said :) Another thing he was right about is that a programmer shouldn't also be responsible for the graphic design, these are 2 completely different skills.

But has Greg thought about the new design at all?

Don't think so, he most probably really likes it as it is now. And not that strange as he made it and he made what he thinks looks good. But I think, or know as the looks of Sokker proves, he doesn't have that feeling needed to be a good graphic designer. He is a programmer, that's his job and speciality.
I don't ask an architect to build my house, I ask a builder to do that and let the design done by the architect ;) Greg should do the same with Sokker.
Also, I think to know what the answer will be, if we want different looks we can use/make new skins. But potential new managers don't know this when they visit Sokker the first time.

Indeed :) I could not have said it any better as that new manager.

afaik he is thinking about a new design, but thinking doesn't mean making...

That would be great, didn't know that yet. On the other hand, he shouldn't think about it but let it be done by someone who will and can do it ;)
