putting a joke into your joke would've made your joke funny.

Burn!
2011-03-05 00:59:31
i agree that PM should have a part in this, but not as the main thing, maybe like a 30% PM 70% defender/technique imo....
2011-03-05 01:04:34
I'd change that to 70%pm and 30% tech. This would stimulate training secondaries more and sounds also more logical to me. Why do you need tech to kick a bal forward and start running like crazy? You need pm to see that that is the best choice

...I think that it will make using 5-def tactics even more important

Why? With "sliding tackles" 4 superdivine defenders will be able to cover much more ground than before :)
2011-03-05 01:07:15
actually it would be more reasonable if technique would be important when hes trying to regain control of the kicked ball, unless its a one touch strike
2011-03-05 01:09:23
exactly!

@Crameren
not really
if 4 def tactics = the winger has a lot of free space before him
if a lot of space = the winger kicks the ball
if the wingers kicks the ball = he travels much, much faster
if he travels faster = it's much harder for the def to reach him
2011-03-05 01:14:53
on the launch and run part i actually agree...... but the sliding tackle situation is more a part as i see of the defender part, as i need tackling skills to perform. What it would give to training secondaries i havent thought about, just thinking realistic here.. :)

and crameren i also think this is a bigger advantage for the wings/strikers then the defenders, as the launch and run move is longer then the sliding tackle, if the attacker first get some space to perform well he is long gone, where as the sliding tackle needs to be performed closer. That is according to what i saw in the match i watched.
So maybe there should be a bigger amount of sliding tackles per game then launch and run....

if 4 def tactics = the winger has a lot of free space before him

I guess that depends on how the 4 defenders are positioned.

What I meant was that perhaps the sliding tackles thing could allow the 4-line defense to spread out some more and still be effektive, making the (superdivine) defenders be within "sliding range" of both wingers and strikers.
I'm just guessing - we'll see tomorrow with better players on the field :)
2011-03-05 01:37:57
yup, we'll see.

though if the launch and run will depend on technique, then superdivine strikers will be unstoppable after good through pass...
2011-03-05 01:54:57
We don't really know the max range of sliding tackles exactly. It will be easier tomorrow when we can watch matches with all-superdivine defenders. And the "launch ball" part seems to vary in range. Besides, I think a superdivine sprinter will be able to get a shot at the attacker anyway - again lets see when the heavy boys are entering the scene.

Any thoughts to the influence of height here? Normally when a player makes contact with the ball, lower height means better acceleration. When launching and running, the player makes contact with the ball each time he cathes up to it. So the interesting question is: Does he utilize acceleration each time he start running with the ball again? If so, dwarfs are at an advantage :)

not really. the strikers move much faster, they kinda sprint right away without warming up when they launch and run...just watch Polska u21 game, the strikers were spectacular...
2011-03-05 02:01:55
It was a nice game, especially that player that came in on position 7 ;-)
2011-03-05 02:35:00
thats why i say that there should be posibility to lose control of ball.... its not that easy to control it in full speed, thus tech should play a role there
2011-03-05 09:27:26
Actually Greg posted the news to translate at 8am sk time yesterday :)

Anyway, there should be some modifications soon and I can't wait for the big nt matches :)

At 45' of today NZL-Australia match, Stephenson almost flew over the NZL defence line using this new speed up :) That was awesome :)
