Subject: [news] Junior Teams

talent graph might decrease one week and up next, but if there are say 34 week junior with talent 4

there will be maybe a pop u at 30, decrease at 29 again back to where it was, increase again at 28 weeks and then pop again at 26 weeks = average of 4 week talent, then increase again in 3 weeks and take 5 weeks after taht to pop the next time...

it will be strange, yes, but you can take the average of all of those and it will work out as an approximate value for the talent... longer graphs will be needed though for this to be more clear

This leads basically to training the juniors oneselfs, to get accurate screens for selling players. Which is as it should be anyway. Youthsccool isnt meant for getting the lucky pull and sell it , to make money, its to create ones owns team new players. In rl that is what clubs do have a youthschool as well.

I like the new system...
2009-12-02 12:17:26
the only problem is that all juniors with similar talent will look the same....
2009-12-02 12:27:40
not necessarily it depends where their skills start at.

I've also got to say that I don't understand how it is that not knowing the talent of the youth has become a good thing.

For everyone who has said that, can I then ask why you have been tracking the talent of your youth? It's not something you have to do, or to look at. So if you don't want to know, then why are you keeping track?

Gallifax, whether people use their youth schools to produce players for their own team or to sell should be up to them. It is the simplistic HT-style training system in Sokker that causes people to not be able to train >90% of their youth pulls.

If you think about your idea that youth pulls should only be for the parent club, then the removal of a chance of a lucky pull that brings in much needed money for the smaller clubs means that the status quo will be preserved. A smaller club will no longer be able to gain a quick jump in budget and thus the bigger clubs will always be on top, since only they can afford the bigger stadiums and better coaches.

However, you are wrong, because this doesn't stop people from selling their youth anyway. If a pull comes out, you can sell him, with no appreciable difference apart from increased uncertainty in determining talent, and thus a tendency to greater fluctuation in prices.

Also, in real life football clubs train an immense number of youth, of whom each year only maybe one will have a chance at the senior squad, and the vast majority are either released or sold off to other clubs.

So again, for those who don't want to know the exact talent of their juniors, I would like to know why you're still keeping track of their progress?

Because,talent worths extra money..:)

But,I am not the one who doesn't want to know talent..

But one thing you miss. Now,it would become very hard to sell junior for some big money. And thats actually very good in my opinion. And that worths for rich clubs and for poor..
2009-12-02 12:49:18
Hmm why do you think it would be harder to sell juniors for big money?

If someone posts a screen that shows a 3.x talent, people will still bid the same as they do now (all other factors remaining equal, of course), so the only differentiating factor is that people will be less certain of the talent of the youth that they are buying, and thus bid less consistently.

No, if you do not track you put yourself in a worse position than others.
The reason why i like the change is that i do not like it that the talent is so accurate as it is now. I like it more that it is a little bit more guessing. In reality the talent of players isn't so accurate either. Offcourse it is with this change not even close to real footbal, but it is a small step to it.
But when it is accurate, it only destroys your opportunities when not using it. It is no real choice to not using it.

However, you are wrong, because this doesn't stop people from selling their youth anyway.
Offcourse youth will be sold... but because we know better what kind of players will be pulled in some weeks, maybe we will wait for that trainee instead of buying now a trainee.
When i know there is a talented attacker comming in 6 weeks, i will wait untill then to see if i can use that player of my own. So yes it will make somme difference i beleieve.

If you can see other matches, and you see a youthplayer constantly performing well. Then you can keep track of him and maybe you spot a talent before the owner even knows it :) Thats what I like :)

haha i do not think it will work, but the idea is realy superb :D
2009-12-02 13:03:38
good point!
looking forward to being able to more or less see, if talented players in ys will fit into my training plan

No, if you do not track you put yourself in a worse position than others.

So, we arrive at the crux of the problem: that those who like the uncertainty want others to be uncertain as well.

I don't want to put words in your mouth, but perhaps it is not inaccurate to say that those who want this uncertainty want the game to be made more difficult.

A change like this will require more time put into Sokker, and thus raise the difficulty level. Of course there will be those who say it is good, and that you should be rewarded for putting in more time and effort, but adding a tedious task to be performed each week isn't going to encourage more people to play.

At this point, I would like to say that we should stop using RL examples. Otherwise, we might as well have players collapsing on the pitch, as well as random doping bans, and also match-fixing.

maybe we will wait for that trainee instead of buying now a trainee.

In this paragraph it seems that you think it will be clear what skill levels a trainee will have. From watching junior matches, will it really be clear how talented an attacker is? Shooting is always (forgive the pun) hit and miss, is it really going to be possible to gauge the difference between weak and good PM, technique and defending are very dependent on the opposition player, etc.

If you want to REALLY know if you can tell, try watching a meaningless friendly between two managers playing their youth, and then guess the skill levels of the players involved.

Thus with the levels of the individual skills being unclear, is the match viewing really going to change the training plan?

I'd also like to know how many trainees tend to be purchased in a season.

it would be nice to make junior transfers while the juniors are still training in the junior school 8)

i agree, it wants to bring some new aspects in the junior school and this his good idea

i totally agree with you on this!
defending and tech: are dependent so u can't guess them
PM: so, a player with solid PM will make good decisions and one with avarage will make bad ones? it's to realtive and too much random is involved to guess it.
ATT: the same thing as above and it also depends on the level of the GK
Pass: maybe here we can make an ideea
Pace: doesn't really help us to know..

so i think it will be virtually imposible to guess a players position by watching the match, even for the most experienced users..
maybe one way to tell will be from comparing the level of a youth with the rating he gets on different positions

ps. don't get me wrong, i like the overall changes, but i think some things are left "in the air". I guess we'll just have to wait and see..

So if the talent will be less aqurate with the new system, why not stay out of the league and see the talent as we know him now?
