Subject: [news] Junior Teams
indeed, only thing that changed for me: instead of firing based on skill and talent, i fire based on age and skill :)
Same i don't really care about junior matches they are so boring anyway:P
I have nothing against the fact that coach might be wrong - skills -+1/2 - doesn`t bother me that much. What´s annoying is that that the bloody graph is like an electro cardiogram, every week it goes up and down, therefore it´s difficult to determine the talent.
Like the matches though, nice new challenge.

we have just only 5 weeks in new system, you will see in, let say, 6 weeks from now that it will not be as difficult as you now may think.
Just take a look on all your youtplayers, then you see some players go up and down, but most players are a little stable. With a little common sense i think you can predict the skill of most players almost correctly. (if they were for 3 weeks there) with that info week by week you can see talent in a couple of weeks.

No matter what you say, it sucks big time. Give me back the old way!
anyhow, I'm stopping youthschool that's for sure.

Yes, it has been on only 3 weeks - but still if I have a unearthly and player has played 3 matches, but the grapg still lies. On the positive side, I have 2 players, who have played only once and graph is like in old system. For me everything else beside graphs is cool and i like. I enjoyed watching junior school pops every Thursday, no those pops doesn`t say me anything.
hehe i understand :)
I had this one:
5 6 7 5
last drop hurts, altough i was pretty sure he was not 7 last week but 6, just as i think he is now :)
(played 3 games)
But when this lad goes back to 7 next week, and to 8 a week later i can presume he had a pop too. It would give me as much pleasure as a vissible pop in old system. Yes it is for sure we can not see if a pop is a real pop anymore. But we will still see progress on what we can find out talent. I believe it will give as much pleasure as before at the end when we know a little bit more about how we can read those graphs better.

this is nice, hope he doesn't go back down 3 next week :)
I wonder what is so hard to understand about the skills now being an estimation and not the actual youth skills? I mean really, its a very simple concept!

like, just looking at the last graph I can tell that his player is most likely at solid right now, maybe very good if he is extremely talented. If he played him in some youth matches it would show that (since we know that playing makes it more accurate, if he moves down on the next update he was over rated, if he moves up he was underrated, simple enough right?). He would alsomhave some idea of the players strengths and weaknesses from watching him play, and he would also know what age he will be when he comes out, which is the most important information that you can have.
that is far more information than we ever had before, for those who know how to use it they should have no problems improving the quality of their youth system, those who can't be bothered to adapt will not survive :)

That's a lot of ifs, none of which are based in fact.
Knowing the exact skill isn't the most important factor, it's knowing when the skill changes actually occur in order to determine talent, which is impossible now. And don't give out that old chestnut about knowing players' skills from watching them in matches, it's obviously not possible to have any accuracy in determining skill levels.
Growing my own youth players is a big part of the game for me, and this change has made it all but impossible. I like the other users in the community, but as things stand it's only a matter of time before I leave the game. Not that it'll be a big loss etc etc

again... 85%* of the players in the youth have a real skill of maximum one level difference to what you see. Use that info when you look at graphs, and you can make clever conclusions. So stop shouting about impossibilities and just try to understand how it works. It is realy not so much harder as before.
*with at least magical coach. I do not have data about other level coaches.

Don't bandy about percentages for which you have no factual basis to back them up with. Your 85% is just a personal opinion. I've also got a magical coach, and he's capable of +/-2 differences. Come back with some facts instead of pulling percentages out of your arse.
And again, skill level is nowhere near as important as skill level changes. There's so much fingers-in-ears discussion here it's ridiculous.

it is not, it is based on investigation of a couple of teams in holland. I analysed a couple of hundreds datapoints and continuing this for the rest of the season. It looks likes the percentage is higher. but because of the fact that i need a fault range 85% is a save assupmtion.
Yes 2 or 3 level difference to real level is possible, but it wil not happen often, only 15 percent of the players.
And if you understand hoiw to read actual skilllevels, you can understand talent too. (yes, not as clear as before, that's right. But you get age info to compansate that. Because age is even more important as talent. an outstanding 20 yo, with a talent of 3.25 is almost wothless. an outstanding 18 yo with a talent rond 3,5 to 4 can be realy worth a lot. And you can determine that easily if a player is around 20 weeks in your youth.)
edit: but if you are more happy to shout that it is rubbish and all people who try to explain how its work, and that it is not as bad as some say, are talking rubbish, be my guest.

A claim that you tested it is not good enough. If you have adequate raw data, post it for some proper statistical analysis. Also a sample size of 2 teams in holland is not good enough, I don't see how you can pick just two and then extrapolate fom there, it shows a lack of rigour in the analysis.
