Subject: Second tactics strategies

Very nice improvement, it's just the proper way of improving a football simulator game.

It’s a good improvement that will change the game and how it is played. The top managers and teams will adjust and have more fun. Gonna be difficult for new players to figure out, but gives them a little bit better chance at making it a game against better teams. However, it will do nothing to close the gap between the top teams in a division and the bottom dwellers. Just like in real life, Blackburn will once a blue moon pull an upset but usually get their ass kicked by the top teams.

[FYI] UM is Sokkers competition. Think of it as the game that has taken all of the suggestions that have been posted here then incorporated there. They just upgraded the match engine and to me it plays more realistic. Also, have the ability to incorporate actually tactics in the game and not just positioning dots around the white dot and calling it a tactic. Also has better financials. Sokkers advantage is number of players for one and a better transfer market. Player positioning in set up is the same but Sokkers allows for more positions. I don’t see where that is much of an advantage due to the UM better match engine. [Don’t see players in the open kicking the ball out of bounds type of thing]
All in all, Sokker had better keep an eye on UM and keep up or they will fall further behind pretty quick. Sorry if this upsets folks but sometimes the truth hurts. I don’t play it but I heard from a friend that Manager Zone is getting ready to roll out a complete game update that is supposed to be a major advancement in manager type games. I guess it’s a dog eat dog world in the sports management gaming world.

you are funny Harvey.... I thought always that it is point of game that people who can make the best tactics will not lose easily :-DDDDD
2012-02-06 08:05:44
guys...can we look into future and start talking about our strategies ?

I think a lot of people can use total def strategies after they will win by a goal...but not everyone.
My personal idea for test is that after I am wining I will start attacking much more :-).

What do you think will be consequences on the field ?

UM - 500 users after 2-3 years... it isn't catching up soon.

Also, the match engine takes two years to process a tackle or pass, an ingame minute goes by during a strong tackle as both players do... nothing I guess.

On topic:
I have a couple of versatile players, so against stronger teams I have a fall back tactic, and against weaker ones a kill them all tactic. It may not be as simple as that :)

analysis of a double tactic possibility made by someone, who didn't even make one real tactic in the game - priceless :')

Ok, you laughed a good, but now try to see the consequence of this modification, wich are: The weaker teams have less chance against better teams, the tactics with 5 defenders will dominate even more than before.

No games have been played and you already know what is going to happen.

An example for you:

Lets say a "strong" team and "weak" team play against eachother - i.e me against You. I am playing with winger and five defenders, You have winger as well. I am dominating the match, you have low number of chances. You have all the luck and I am unable to score a goal. And then at one moment you score a lucky goal. I change my tactic, now with 4 defenders. So your winger have now more room for making trouble.

Hopefully you understand me. You never now ahead how one tactic affects other one...Anything can happen.

And why you think weaker teams have less chances? Impossible to predict such things.

The first ting i tought when i saw this improvement "yes, now i have more change to use 4-4-2 and 4-5-1 tactics" :)

(And when the red card issue will be solved i will use the 4-5-1 tactic as basetactic.)

But i think most of the users will do the same as they always did, use every week the same tactic and change it once in a while.

As Vilpu said no matches played and all the users know what is gonna happen , this is insane !!!

My opinion for the time is that the devs now pushed the users to give more basis to the match and the tactics . The big advantage of this game is the tactics system , many users used to be chairmen and managers and not tacticians ... now if you do not work on the opponent's system you will get nothing of the game !!

I saw that many users believe that this improvement gives more power to the strong teams . I think that this is not right , cause if you are capable of close well your better opponent once , you can do it with all your tactics on him ;)

On the other hand , if you have a very strong team and you cannot win an "easy" game with your first tactic , you will not become Wenger on your second tactic ;)

My opinion is that tacticians will get more power instead of chairmen-mangers and this so nice .
Congratulations to the devs , excellent job :)

That's actually what I thought too. If there is a chance to change tactic, it allows tactics to be less defensive/cautious. You might be able to play 4 defs and switch if they use a winger on the other side for example. In fact this might break the trend of everyone using a variation of the same base 5-3-2 or 5-4-1 tactic. Instead we might see a few more "risky with high reward" tactics.

Then in that case, a weaker side has a great opportunity as there might be more holes. So far a lot have focussed on the stronger side getting 2 bites at the cherry but ignored the fact the weaker side might actually have some benefits too.

I'd give it some time before judging it so harshly.

I didn't bother to read the whole topic. Anyway, it seems to me that a secondary tactic is more effective for comebacks than securing the win.

If your first tactic is a success and you manage to gain a lead there's not that much point changing the tactic compared to the opposite. If the tactic should be changes it's best to be close to identical to the original one. For example: if the lead is gained by the control on midfield, chancing from 442 to 532 would propably lose that advantage. It's also a bit (not much thought) risky to put a player to a position with wrong order (att to mid position e.g.).

Shortly: what's the point of changing something that's already working? On the other hand if I made a bad tactic for a start there might still be some time to save the game by switching to another tactic.

Take your hate mission somewhere else.

Now I take little bit of my time to make second tactic for next CC game. When I think about it I get conclution that number of attackers would stay the same in my team from begining to end, casue to put MID order in attack or ATT order in midfield won't be good for me, so I will stay with same number of strikers whole game. If this will be good change than they can change this next season.

But still if I start the match with standard 532 winger tactic, I can change it to many other tactic in second half, 442-winger, 442-no winger, 532-no winger, and all this 4 tactic with differnet depth of defence, so I can choose to change in 7 "normal" tactic I already have.

So I need to have 8 basic tactic and choose 2 of them in 90% matches it is not so difficult, but it looks great from my point of view.

And this second tactic is great for team which start to loose match and in many cases it is weaker team, so if I gonna play against Vilpu I'm glad I have this option cause I think it gives me better chances than I had before this change

Before the modification I think it was enogh (for the weaker team) to find out the better team's tactic, and make a great tactic to play a close match or win it. Now the weaker team has to find out what tactics will the stronger team use and create 2 great tactics and find out how the other team will changes his tactics.

And the other consequence will be more tactics with 5 defender as wingers in sokker are really dangerous, but sometimes, if the opponent puts a DEF close to the line it means -1 player in the centre of the field. Now with 2 tatics, every team has the chance to play with winger only for 30, 45 minutes. It can be easily a common weapon in the future to make one tactic without winger, and other with winger. So the other team it will be very risky to play with less than 5 defender.
