Subject: NEWS New 3D Match Viewer!

2012-05-30 15:43:54
Yes, I did... kind of UM-like presentation :P:P:P

But it's a good thing for new prospective users, it's not the same to get into a front page and still not knowing what the game looks like (as it was before) than finding those moving screenshots.

I still would, again in an "UM-like" way, allow prospective users to watch a match. So, for instance, if you click in the "3D Match Engine" image, instead of taking you immediately to the registration page (as it is doing know) I would take the user to a match, so he can see how actually the game looks like in action.

Given the fact that the new 3D visor looks really good, I think it would make a good move.

PS: Before someone jumps into my throat, I am not suggesting that SK "copies" UM, and even if it were in some specific issues, there's nothing wrong with that, UM also copied some things from SK (as SK and UM copied other things from other previous games... it's football, at the end of the day).

I don't know what game you're playing guys. I seriously don't remember a single corner that was outside the box since I started managing Australia, and it makes it about 30 games.

That's precisely your problem: the game you play, not the one WE play. There are 2 SKs: the SK for players level 12/13 or more, and a SK for the rest. I can speak of both because I played both.

I started playing SK back in 2005, I think. I was the first Argentina NT when the NT were first put in place, and then managed the NT again in the 3rd or 4th WC, I don't remember now. I managed to get my team into the First Division in Argentina, and won once the Argentina Cup.

Then, I started getting tired of the game plus some other personal reasons and I left the game. One or two years later, I decided to come back. My brother (Don_Enzo, also a former Argentina NT Manager and current NT manager candidate) convinced me to come back in 2008 or so, don't remember well, when a new animations were put in place.

So I came back, starting from scratch. From 0.

O my f.... God!!!! That was a torture. Watching games played by players level "solid-solid" (which are the best players you can count on when you start a game) is a painful experience, horrible, it doesn't look like football at all, it's a sort of mix of rugby (players seem to look for a "line" the whole time) and tennis (pum to one side, pum to the other side)... Australian Football, maybe?

I even wrote a post in the Argentina forum: there's no way SK is going to be a successful game if new users (those who you really want to capture) are force to watch "that" as match simulation. I am convinced, in fact, that that issue is one of the main problems of SK: the logic "low level, stupid football; high levels, regular football" put the majority of users in a bad situation.

Of course, "old users" don't see this problem: they've here for a long time, their teams have 12/12 players in almost all positions and, if there is one or two that are even lower, when they do stupid things you say: "well, they are my worst players, what can you expect" and they don't care. But low division managers (because they are new, or because they are not so new but cannot afford, yet, a whole 12/12 roster) don't have "just" 1 or 2 bad players, have roster of them with 1 or 2 good 12/12 players.

It took me like more than 5 seasons to have a roster averaging 50.0 and only then I was able to see, sometimes, good football (but I still run into corner kicks sent directly outside). I was patient, but how many guys left because they got frustrated buy what they saw in the first 4 or 5 games?

Believe, I've been up there, I've been down there, now I am "just there", I know what I am talking about. SK wants to gain more users? Give them FOOTBALL to watch with "solid-solid" players!!!!!

Yes, yes, you're right, but those links are "visually" hidden in the top, it would be maybe useful if you could see the demo match right away if you click in the "3D Match engine" image.

But it's just a minor "cosmetic suggestion" :P

damn, this zorro so funny guy

I agree. If I click on one of those icons, I am expecting a page to display what I clicked on so I can see more of it. It would be much better if you clicked on the 3-D Match Viewer, or any other icon in the rotating thingy, and got a demo page for that icon with a link below the demo to register. Much more user friendly.

So far (last friendly and todays cup game) three corners kicked behind the goal - two from a brillant passer and from an unearthly. It's even worse than before :p

I always set in tactics for corner ball position the attackers a little more back (10th or 15th meter form the goal). This helps to have less corners missing the field.

do we know anything about the uniforms???
hopefully will have more options for ex shirt with stripes and maybe different color for the socks or something??

My team really NEEDS-MUST have the stripes!!!

I have difficulties to see my game.

The game is slow, it happens to someone else?

What is the best system configuration to watch the games?
The matches on 3D are a "mirrored" version of my tactic. Check my formation in the match report and then watch the match in 3D. The tactic is "mirrored". Im not talking about the side view, im talking about the tactic and the position of the players.

The tactic formation is fine in the 2D version, but not in the 3D. :(

WTF is wrong with this, boys...

Yesterday, I experienced a problem every time I tried to watch a 3D game: it would OK the first time, but from the second on it would stop loading in some folder (it was a different folder depending on the browser, FF12, Chrome, IE10).

Today I read that, regarding FF, the cause could be and add-on, oSokker. I disabled the add-on completely and, then, I was able to watch matches with no problem.

Until my cup game was played: then, out of the blue, suddenly, it again stop loading my match in a specific folder (100% of http://upload.sokker.org/userfiles/imag). I had to delete the cache and the cookies to be able to watch the match. Once. When I tried to watch the game again, it stopped loading it at the same point.

I don't think that requiring users to delete their cache/cookies every time they want to watch a game is something reasonable.

And it's annoying: Do these guys test things before they release it? Watching a match is one of the key issues of SK, that's what you expect every Sunday/Wednesday. Even more after a major announcement. And the game doesn't even get loaded, not without ridiculously tweaking settings in the browser, settings that should be left alone all the time?

I've got no problems so far with the new viewer, maybe it has something to do with your computer.
2012-05-31 04:19:28
I have two computers. One with W7-64x, the other one with Linux (Ubuntu) 12.04.

In the first one, I tried with FF12, Chrome, and IE 10 (all up to date, Adobe also up to date). In the second one, I tried FF12.

It's always the same: once I delete the cookies, I can watch the match... once. Then, never again.

But it gets even more weird: I CAN watch some matches from other users as many times as I want (without resetting anything), but certain users (for instance, KIARA and beto, both from Argentina), but with other users is the same story as to me: the game stops loading at certain point.

It can be TWO computers...

this 3D match viewer is very poor. i unlike.
2012-05-31 07:14:51
after days of trying to see anything in 3D, finally clearing ALL my coockies (so 99% were actually usefull) i noticed yesterday my 'blue grass' is actually brown and with a background of skyscrapers my stadium just looks tiny :(. i read something about camera angles? well i have not found that yet ...

anyway about the match engine: the gameplay for my b-team against an even weaker bot-team in the cup looked horrible maybe i'll try to give my attackers def order and my defenders att order next because they all appear to be passing in the wrong direction currently :s.
