Subject: New match engine discussion

I think you are right about the exodus of the experienced managers. There is a lot of frustration about the ME. I share that emotion to be honest. It's a shame. I dislike the most there is a sort of levelling of the teams...

Obsolete graphics? I don't think so.

Ofcourse graphics are important. When someone visit the Sokker website he/she will decide in a few minutes if this is a game to play or not. There are enough other online football games to choose from. And graphics is definitly one of the main features to get new managers, or at least will attract their attention.

And you are used to the old lay out, but that lay out looks like crap. And even the current lay out isn't something of 2013, not to mention how user unfriendly Sokker is. Just try to find something important like the tactic editor :/ (training page > right corner > small black text .. that makes sense, not)

And ofcourse it is a problem many managers have stopped playing Sokker, but an even bigger problem is that almost no new managers start playing Sokker. Just as everything else that dependent of new signups, when oldies stop and no newbies take over all will finally end.

Sokker needs a good ingame tutorial, the rules need to be rewritten and be divided into 2 section ('Rules' and 'Game Play' for example), layout and graphics need to be changed and layout reorganized to make it userfrienly, ofcourse a Sokker app (in fact, this should have happened 2 years ago!), etc etc etc etc.

And most of all, Sokker need active DEVs who implement new features and fix bugs much faster, and also communicate with the users/customers (us, the managers).

So too many things that needs to be done :/

I really hate this ME but what keeps me in the game is the joy of training and making profit from it (i'm not that good at it but what the hell).

I totally agree about tutorial and devs, it's out of the question.

I don't know what happened with owners and devs. No contact with them, no answers, discussions, even no statements. Maybe something important is cooking like business talks with new investors?

On the other hand, on polish forum I've read "contact report" recently, written by one of polish users, who finally contact with Greg and get the answer: "you don't like it? So f... off".
Honestly I don't believe that Greg give such an answer, but general idea may be correct - we are happy with current Sokker condition, and we are not planning to change anything.

Is there a third possibility why they are silenced?

I disagree with you about graphics.
Well, graphics are important of course in general, but this is no primary objective for that type of games. Why you buying and playing Football Manager every year? For graphics? No kidding, playability is the key. Graphics are additional features only. Would you play FM with master graphics but poor playability? The answer is obvious. First things first.

ME is most important part of playability and should be treated as a top priority. If so many users leaving because they are frustrated by ME, devs should take it under consideration seriously. Like someone said : billions of flies can't be wrong:)

About the graphics, I think it is a primary objective looking at how to attract new managers. Ofcourse the game itself has to be good too, but the overall experience will make a game ok or great. So to get more new managers I think the graphics are important, and also a good looking userfriendly layout.

And about the ME, it's difficult to say something is right or not because it also has a lot to do with taste. And those who are used to the old ME and can't forget about that might dislike any other ME just because it's not the old ME. The mistake the DEVs made was to implement to many things the same time and in BETA. If they had implemented some new ME features at beginning of each new season, most probably a lot less people would had complained. The implementation was probably for many a complete 'shock' and the many bugs in it didn't help to get people excited with the ME.

I think the current ME is fine, I have no problems with it and new managers don't know any better so that's also no problem.

The DEVs should ask all managers who quit Sokker why, so they know the main problems of old and new users who quit.

I think the current ME is fine, I have no problems with it and new managers don't know any better so that's also no problem.

That's what you think. Believe me, it's not the opinion of the majority of the managers.

a question,
user follow the Match engine or Match engine follow the user want?
:)

A bunch of conjectures can be made about it, but the truth is that this ME has been done with a main goal (like said by Smurf): to level differences between stronger and weaker teams.

The main consequence of it is the unpredictability of match results.

Well, it could be a favourable thing, BUT there should be an internal coerence.

I mean: I can't accept that ME decided that results would be a draw, and during live my 3x superdivine winger is always been stopped by a 2x incredible def, or my 3x superdivine striker miss ten 1vs1, while his weaker striker has one 1vs1 and put it on goal.

Sometimes it could happen, but it happens too often.

exactly. play football manager series and look at that engine.

If Italy 3rd league striker comes 1x1 with Buffon he still has high chance to score dammit. This ME does it the other way.

What is wrong with ME?

In every game if its is virtual on www.sokker.org or real sports, users/players/teams have to adapt to reality as it is. As sokkermanagers we have to adapt to the current ME, and i like the fact that everyone can beat another stronger team if the tactic is set correct. I lost my last game against a weaker opponent and i have no problem to admit that his tactic were better than mine. I have almost as many shots on goal as him but sad for me, my best striker is totally out of form.

I do not think ME is the problem, not either that some oldtimers leave. I have played this game for seven years and i know a lot who have played it several years. But how many new players stay in the game? The reason to stay is that it is a complex game and there is always a challenge in this game, but if you are new to the game there is a lot of things to find. Some of them arent very logical. As an example everyone find where and how to set up a new tactic, but from my time as a mentor for newbies i can tell that almost none find were to choose it in a match before beeing told how to/were to.

Instead of wining maybee we should talk positive about the game, recruite som new players, mentor them and in that way get some new friends to play with. Because the main reason for an old timer to quit would be lack of new competitors. The most of us getting pretty bored facing the same opponents time after time, and sometimes it isnt competitors but maybee a bot...

If we still want to play this game which in my opinion is the best managergame, we have to do those things!

The first step has to be made by the new manager.
2013-12-30 20:34:13
in sokker not the biggest problem ME!
People leaving sokker because is bored.

need more money!!!

My advice:

Increase sponsor.
That would be the key to success. Why?
Beginners would be easier to create good team.
like this is take years to create good team.
then soker be interesting because it will be more strong teams.
