Subject: New match engine discussion

But I remember situations where last defender passes the ball to gk and last striker who is in offside can catch that ball first and go 1x1.

If defender is of team A and striker of team B, this situation can never ever be offside.

yea but when do you define if defender passes it, controls it, or just touches it? it seems like these 3 situations are different towards counting offside. This makes everything mixed up.

Like in sokker (probably in reality too, at least sometimes) if a defender just TOUCHES it, it's an offside, if he controls it - it's not. For me this is too weird.

I think you have to read the rules of soccer again. The rules are really clear about offside.

I didn't say that situation could be offside, I just said it makes everything weird. What if with sokker "touch" defender would pass the ball to gk, sokker counts as offside since it's "only a touch". Anyway it's still only engine with is too badly programmed for us to think what is real and what is not.

In most cases the Sokker ME will be right to give offside, because of the "offside offence" (see my previous post). Or in other words, the striker will benefit too much from his offside position, as he was offside when the ball was passed to his direction.

It's offside in that case.

Look, in RL we can discuss a lot about when an action ends and a new one begin. But Sokker is a computer program, and here things are simple: in Sokker, an action lasts from the moment a player makes a pass until a second player has the ball. "Having the ball" in Sokker is binary: player A is flagged as having it or he's flagged as not having it. When player A controls the ball, his flag shifting from 1 to 0, the question is whether he was offside when the pass was made or not.
In your video, the defender never got the flag possession, so the first action continued until the striker got the ball.
In the previous example someone posted, the defender got the ball, ended the original action, and then got tackled, with no offside given.

You have to understand that, for the computer code, there is no disntinction between being tackled the second you got the ball or after running around the whole pitch three times, so defender in control=no offside in all cases. Similarly, the code doesn't distinguish between the ball bouncing in the floor or bouncing in a player: possession doesn't change, so it's offside. And in this case it is consistent with football rules: for example, if I'm offside before afree-kick is taken, the ball hits the wall, and I collect it, it is offside.

You play against the same club, with same tactics, same players. One week you win by 5x1, another week you loose 1x7. How can good can someone really think this ME is.
2014-06-23 09:26:25
if you loose 5-1 or win 7-1 its easy to conclude that both teams have a poor defense. No surprise about "random" ^^

indeed- last match between U two was 10 weeks ago so form of players is changed for sure and it impacts how tackles are won or lost, dribbles succeed or fail and does keeper saves ball or not.

Indeed. And maybe the other team is training ATT, that can also be a reason why this time goals are scored which the other team didn't score the previous match.

Many reasons why 2 matches can be have different results, and in some cases a really different result.

I understand your opinion, but for me it's too obvious that it's not true. Sorry about my opinion. 5x2 to 1x7 is way too much with same players, same tactics. I would like a completely different ME if it was up to me.

I have read messages in this topic and anothers about ME, i see a lot more people unhappy but developers don't care for that. So no need to discuss, just adding another user unhappy with ME.
2014-06-24 14:06:05
well, U 've asked why you lost with same tactics and eminent users responded to U with resonable explenation that works in RL aswell.

as U can see in WC, Holland in excellent form against Spain out of form and TD lost 5-1. If it happened in sokker there would be revolution and said it is not possible, new ME need etc. Or games Argentina-Iran, Germany-Ghana etc.

It is just football and his players had great scoring day against your keeper who is not in form and not very good as well.

u've asked

No, i didn't. I know how ME works, i just don't like it and used the forum to say it.

Difficoult to make sense on matches under 50% rating. Is still difficoult on 50-65% and sometimes in above ratings, but this is football as well we're no playing on maths football. Maybe there are factors like what team get advantage first mixed experience of players, for example. But making mad thoughts after one match is too easy for all

u've asked

No, i didn't.

Yes you did: How can good can someone really think this ME is.

Also, people are allowed to comment on what you write on a forum, that is what a forum is for....

RACK to adaca
that engine as harmful to youth games honestly feel sorry alien must improve how terrible it is illogical and inconsistent because for both teams is not something that more or less would understand.
