Subject: New match engine discussion
imo, new ME looks great when two strong teams are playing, but really sucks in matches between weaker teams. U21 NT matches are almost unwatchable in a same manner junior matches were before.
I notice improvements in the new ME compared to end of last season though.. So there is still hope :p
Just get rid of the "launch and run" BS and it will be fine..

I suppose players tend to launch the ball out of bounds when running close to the sideline.. (also good players although I have to say my semi-winger didn't do this even once today but it's probably due to the fact that he wasn't playing as a pure winger and thus not positioned superclose to the sideline) or they launch the ball and instead of running faster.. they are actually running slower.. This usually happens when they are launching the ball in a different direction then just straight ahead. This second thing should definitely get fixed imo as it's just weird to look at. The first 'bug' will continue to happen I guess and is a bit dependent of the winger's skills.. eventhough I've seen great wingers run the ball out of bounds quite a lot of times which is just retarded and unrealistic but I guess it's something we'll have to live with or position our winger further from sideline to have less problems with this.

there has to be some change- maybe some balance of quality in lower league matches like we "have" in junior matches fo r speed. I m talking from angle of managing Croatian u21 team for more than 100 matches- since ME change U21 games are really turned into low quality games that are form time to time totally unwatchable. I m thinking in lookin only report at end of match.
Italy-Polska U21 it has been a nice match to watch indeed

The main problem are two
1) head shoot is really too weak now (but maybe someone is tuning it)
2) I see too much strange results - e.g. many matches are decided with a dice thrown

ok, they are top teams with high skilled players- and that is only few percent- romania plus few more- others dont have such choice of great u21 players- that is why games are bad :(

launch and run is more like: launch, stand still for a second and then run. By that time, an opponent has cleared the launched ball. Also noticed the LaR happens when it shouldnt (in front of the goal instead of shooting) and very few times when it should (free on midfield).
This will be the hundredth and also last time I will post this comment and link on the forum. But if again no one wants to spend a minute of his/her time (except for those few who did) to post match links + minutes when possible launch and run bugs happened, it won't be solved and this bug will stay and will be everyones own damn problem in the future :/
I'm not going to repeat myself over and over again. So write some complaint in this topic, or spend that same time on writing something that is helpfull, the choice is yours.

The bug forum is full with these reports about launch and run already..but yeah I'll report some more..all you have to do is watch any match for 5 minues, especially on the U21 level.
I understand that the players are weaker, but it doesn't mean they have to be retarded and stop running after launching the ball, because they sudenly realize how lame they are..
The launch and run makes sense when there is a clear path infront of the player, like on the wing or during break aways, but not when you have 5 players around you..

It's not about bugs per se, but about players' behaviour that just doesn't look realistic at all. Launch and run only makes sense when a player has space in front of him to run into. In the current engine, players will often "launch" the ball directly into their oppoenent, which looks extremely silly. That happens several times in almost every match.
Also, I think there are still way too many back passes from midfielders when they are completely free and could easily pass to the striker. Instead they unexpectedly turn around and pass back to a defender, who will hit a long ball forward. Change these two things, and we have a fairly decent engine. Frankly, was hoping for some fixes to these problems at the beginning of this season, and I find it very disappointing that greg seems to have lost interest.

completely agree. Those are 2 issues that bother me most. "Launch and run" and back passes.
May be also add some accuracy to the headers..it doesn't have to be like before, just don't make it irrelevant..

Don't know if those are really run and launch bugs, like standing still while they should run. But have posted them in the run and launch bug topic on the test server so the DEVs can take a look.
