Guys... again.. I recommend you to go to the "ME Errors" post since Charles clearly said that unless posted in the Bugs/Ideas forum.... no matter how many +1 there are here.. it will not get to the Devs. It has to be posted and have people agree to it on that forum.

Yes. Well said Anaconda. Sokker has lost its charm that was "the virtual strategy battle". Now its too easy to be lazy and still have succes against dedicated and tactically inclined managers.

And nerfing winger/headers like that only adds to make the game more simple/easy. It needs to be just as dangerous as any other type of attack (well ok, no attack is dangerous at the moment - but wing play seems to be hit the hardest), so that it forces managers to take some chances and make hard choices with their defense positioning. Now its obvious that a tight defense is the way to go - I mean why pay attention to the winger when one like Yarburg in best form is barely able to make any cross land in the head of the strikers - most of the time just finding the opponent keeper or simply backpassing instead of making the cross, except when he just toss it over the goal. And when he do hit a strikers head, it has 0,0001% chance of being converted to a goal (maybe a little more), and the attempt itself may have 1% chance of actually be visually decent.

I won't make too many hopes, even if it is posted there.

Marts: I used to talk with greg a couple of times via sk-mail.
Don't know how, but he usually answers my sk-mails.
He answered me last time, I answered back, on 28th May, but he still didn't read that sk-mail. It's marked with red in my sentbox.
Also, I've sent him another sk-mail on 17th June, regarding those NT stadiums, because world cup was near, he didn't read this one either.

I don't know exactly and I may be wrong, but if greg wins 5000-10.000 euros per month from this game, he's a real badass. Don't forget that this is a part-time for him, he isn't doing this for a living.
So, it is highly probable that he lives pretty decent, way above the average of most central-eastern-nordern european countries (Polska, Romania, Eesti).

Why would I try and advertise his game (as you asked us on other topics), attract new users, users that may buy plus (some of them), so why would I try and work in order to increase greg's money? I don't really receive anything in exchange.
If I would work for a "boss", in a company, I would increase his budget, I would help him, but he also pays me, I have some advantages.
Here, personally, I didn't receive anything with these new changes.
Some of the 50k users may have received joy, happiness etc, with these changes, they may like it, but I'm pretty sure there are LOTS of users like me that don't have any advantage, that don't like it.

I don't say that one must make everyone else happy (generally speaking), it's pretty impossible, there will always be someone who is not happy, who doesn't like the way you acted. It's impossible to make everyone from a community, group, class, city, any other division, HAPPY.
BUT you should try and even succed to make the MAJORITY happy. If the majority agrees, then you did a decent job.

I think it's impossible in sokker to determine what the majority thinks, but if they are still here and still offer greg 5000 per month, then some may be happy or play from "instinct" (like "oh, my plus expired, I must buy a new one).

I, personally, am not happy not about those changes, but about the general attitude of the game owners. It's obvious that they are not professionals, they are amateurs.

If I would have been the owner, be sure that I would have created a special forum and I would have read that forum! And answer regarding different stuff. And if I can't read all the topics (because of time, many topics etc) I would have hired a user (100-200$ per month for reading a forum is gold) I trust in and ask him to "filter" the important ideas from that topic and tell them to me (or link me the topics).
There may be many ideas in this forum, but SURELY some of them are good, are able to help me, as game owner, to develop the game, develop my future possibilities, and even develop my future earnings.

But greg doesn't do any from these.
Even this post, it's a single post on a forum of a 50k user-game from the huge internet. It's nothing.
But some make money (real money!) from this game and don't give a damn, while others don't even enjoy the game.

Nice analysis

Don't think it is a really well paid job owning Sokker if you considering the hours that get into it and the money it brings in ;)

As a part-time, should be pretty well paid :)

I like the strikers and the goals to, but is not realistic to see dozens goals with header all over the sokker world, seems to play a britannic football style everywhere:)
High scores from the beginning of EURO2012 simulation, where every corner was 90% a goal goes to be corrected by a short-passing style and better defending, just like on real football we see now.
I like the strikers who works more to score a goal, than put their head onto a winger launched ball.Importance of technical skill is more essential now, when players keep the ball down on the field, not on air.And i like to see much less injuries everywhere actually.
I say-it, i repeat again: that's the future of soccer and of sokker to-fast short passes at field, not long airline passes, not kick and run.Just open your eyes to real soccer and you will understand.

I don't think so, but this idea of mine is ofcourse based on almost no info about incomes at all. But earning about 0.1 cent for every click on an add, and just showing adds don't bring in that much money either, it is mainly Plus money of which everything has to be paid from (servers, extern expertise, etc) and what is left has to be devided among up to 7 DEVs (don't know how many are active and I presume all DEVs get paid).

He has 25 who are doing it for free but he doesn't care about our opinions. Hard to believe but most of time all of us have the same opinion but he always found some arguments against.

How ever, i'm not totally against the new engine. Some things are really good. winger/header worked too good before but now it has changed totally. Now it's unusable. Something in the middle would have been nice. 1:1 situations are still not good, same for penalties!

After more closely following this thread i can see some very valid points in the arguments against the new ME, especially anaconda´s point of "the virtual strategy battle" has a lot of power in it.
But people are not thinking forwards, but backwards, people are complaining that there 1 wing 1-2 strikers with oceans of space down to the midfielders and defence will have hard time getting pass 5 def and 3 def mids with new marking system, they are not saying it like this but with "boring matches, no chances, less effeciency, too much small passes without need".... but if you think forward then the opponents is in same shoes, he also has less gunpowder per offensive player, meaning you can use less defence, giving you free gunpowder for your attack, that combined with more short passing means we are moving towards that midfielders should be higher, you should get some support up from your defence and more real life tactics and simulation is getting closer.

I am in for the changes in the ME, yes it is quite some way from giving a good gaming experience yet, but it is moving in a direction i think very high of. Now we would start needing offensive midfielders more and finding more realistic ways of opening an attack then by launching the wing or striker by half field passes. I can even remember when i was new (newer then now :P) i showed a tactic with an offensive midfielder, and was told he would be in the way of a through pass from defence. Cmon.

And for the virtuel strategy battle, well now the battle is where you place the midfield and how many men you are willing to push forward compared to what your opponent will do because you need more men to do the attack effective. Finding the big spaces in the opponents tactics, and not the one who is made because of too less intelligent defending.

It´s moving in a good direction, not yet there, will take time, but in the right direction.

IMO

Good analisis. I didn't have the time to watch some NT matches. But i think the same. Instead of creating more tactical options, to increase the importance of strategy they reduce what was already not that big (in most cases, the player's average rating is too important in the result compared to tactics and strategy). It's a pity, devs seems to be in the opposite path that i would like. And looking for the pool, seems that devs are in the opposite of the majority managers would like too.

I agree with you. I just wish I can have a certainty that they are still going to keep improving the ME and not leave it as it is.

I like that there are changes but you have to be careful and not destroy some things that were working good before and not now.

The defense can have this "auto mark" mode to make it too easy for bad defensive tactics to work well when they clearly should not.

The forwards need to be able to have more accuracy in their shot aiming. And I agree that pace needed to be changed, but not so much.. now they are too slow, have very little "starting speed" (don't know exactly how to call it.. the word escapes me). Those examples of players dribbling the ball forward and then slowing down like if walking through quick sand, can't happen.

And the goalies seem to be much better now... too many things aiming to produce "in general", low scoring games.

And lastly, too fix the penalty shooting. Its awful to say the least.

"As a part-time, should be pretty well paid :)"

you don´t know exactly how much does he earn or how much time does he work on this. So, talk about the game, talk about the ME, but please, don´t say a word about something you don´t have a fucking idea...

I agree that changes like more short passing and less dangerous crossing are going into the right direction. However, there are still big problems. For example, look at the World Cup game Germany-Russia: It was just silly how the Russian mids kept passing sideways, giving Russia 61% possession, but only 3 shots on goal. The new ME actually looks nice in games with relatively deep defensive lines, but it's almost impossible to play against a high defense because the strikers never get the ball. Adding more mids instead of defenders won't help - in fact it will make it worse because there will be even more useless sideways passing. That's something that needs to be fixed, along with the horrible penalty kicks and silly 40 meter backpasses from the opponent's penalty box.

Also, the games now look way to slow in 2D. Why not make the players a little bigger in 3D and increase the speed again? That would fix two problems at once - small players in 3D and low speed in 2D.
