Subject: »Do you like the new ME?
Last Thursday in Spain's Cup (eights of finals) we have seen something hilarious about the 'seriousness' of this ME. Btw, it was reported by the *winner* of the match, who, far from being happy, he was somewhat astonished by such an stupidity.
In this match, the winner (isvar) made a terrible mistake. Upon planning a substitution of one ATT by a another ATT in the half time, he forgot to check the number, so the order was carried on, and the reserve ATT effectively substituted... the main GK (number 1, which is the one by default in the box).
As he says, his reselve ATT is a total nullity in the Keeper skill (in fact, it marked 9%), but he acted anyway as GK the full second half of the match. Of course, it was his mistake, and nothing to do with the ME.
So, as bad GK as he was, he received a goal. Oddly, it seems that the rival players were not informed about that the GK was not a real goalkeeper, so it is quite absurd that, playing with 3 ATTs, none intented to score with shots from afar. But well, asking this ME to manage IAs and such could be too much, perhaps.
Well, in the end his team succeded in scoring, so they tied, and played the extra time. In the end, in 75 minutes the other team seemed not to be able to score nothing more than 1 goal, the same number than his, in spite of shooting... 28 times!
Then, the most funny part: the penalties. The winning team, which plays with 1 only ATT (which does not mean that the MIDs had to be null in Striker, of course) and who, from 28 shoots has scored one, goes and scores 4 penalties in a row against a GK which marks 71%.
On the other hand, the team which has 3 ATTs, which have in front a player who is not a GK, only scores 1, failing other one (goalpost), and allow the ATT in the keep to block! 1 shoot (1 ATT marking 55 vs a no-GK marking 9).
Yes, we could talk eternally about the tactics and such (I agree that the winner deserved to win), but let's focus on the GK issue and the penalties: WHAT IS THIS?

you mention about RL,where did you saw a player(winger)who play only on the side of the field and only moving up and down?????
Btw, in today's WC U21 quarter finals match (Spain-Turkey), an 'ATT' (playing with DEF order), perfectly places himself in position, perfectly avoids the oponent's DEFs, perfectly receives, perfectly controls the ball, perfectly shoots, and perfectly outsmarts the GK, scoring a perfect goal.
What's the trick? Take a look at his skills (he currently has a transfer ad):
Esmer Bekilli, age: 20
club: NE MUTLU TÜRKÜM DİYENE, country: Türkiye,
value: 604 750 €, wage: 6 725 €,
very good form, excellent tactical discipline,
height: 189 cm, ·weight: 84.2086 kg
good stamina weak keeper
magical pace brilliant defender
very good technique formidable playmaker
average passing weak striker
Yeah...

Yeah...
let me explain you what it is
as far as penalties go. as far as I know, striking skill has nothing to do with penalty scoring %. I used to let my goalkeeper score penalties, and I´ve had superdivine striker missing 3 penalties in a row.
also, it seems that the rival players were not informed about that the GK was not a real goalkeepe
how do u guys even expect that players should be informed about the quality of opponent keeper skill?

why "oh god"?
there was nothing wrong in this match.
teh 28 "shoots" were mostly harmless, because the white striker always stands at the wrong place and didn´t move very much. if a defender is able to obstruct a striker, then most shots are harmless. so here.
the "false" keeper had not much to do.
from the only 2 good shots one was a goal.
In the penalties two shots were post or bar and the third was goal. so now he has absolutely nothing to do than to rise his hands sometimes.
the only impressive thing were his goal-kicks. very qick, far and accurate. they made the whole match much better for a few seconds.

your example has not much do to with the new match engine.. this could easily have happened in the old match engine aswell.. it's called 'being unlucky'.. as penalties really are a lottery.
will someone drove the ball out of the line or back pass it way over the middle line to the DEF when, as adaca describe it, having all the time/space in the world?? no!
Unfortunatly I didn't record the FC Utrecht match of today, I could have shown you many examples of strange choices and mistakes that fits Sokker perfectly :S
You make it sound like all players always act the same and only do strange things/mistakes in specific situations, but they don't. Maybe you should watch rl matches more carefully and look for all the mistakes during matches, you will be surpriced.
But yes, in Sokker some things need to be tweaked a bit better, but the ME is already way better as the pingpong ME of the past. And even with this ME still to often the DEFs kick the ball forwards without using MIDs, but with the old ME it was way worse.

what's wrong with this ME is only one thing: keepers are simply too strong.
Charles, you talk about RL.. goalkeeping don't acts like in RL. They're simply overpowered.
And it's only because "match results have to be like in RL, unpredictables", because in RL a GK can't stop five 1vs1 in a single match.

If keepers are so owerpowered why is there then scored more here then in rl?? Its not the keepers, its the numbers of different possible chances...

what do you mean?
what do you mean?
average of amount of goals scored in one game is lower in real life. when compered to sokkers average.

in RL it always depends from which league we refer to, and if that league is made by teams with almost the same strongness.
anyway I won't compare SK to RL, it's an old and odd question that I've never understood..
The fact is that GK are "forced" to be stronger than normal to keep those results average equal or at least a little bit higher than in RL.
