i read few good ideas i think we should open a list who wish to participate then we should consider the structure of the tournoment
maybe i'm wrong but i've counted 51 nations from europe in sokker if we have
we could have qualification round 16 groups 4 or 3 teams each and 1 team progress
through this is just 3 or 4 games per season
then we have the euro cup with 16 teams the euro could be every 4 seasons if we do not have enough weaks to complete it in 2 :)

in América I´m organizing an Copa América ("America Cup").
we have 20 nations; our idea is an qualification stage ("Liga de las Américas") where 6 teams (15 to 20 of America´s rank, total 6 teams) plays a league of 5 weeks (parallel to World Cup, weeks 5,6,7,8,9); the best 2 teams of this league, will be classified to Copa América finally.
The Copa América will be played weeks 11,12,13,14,15,00, by 16 teams, by 4 groups of 4 teams; the nations will be cut in 4 pots by SK rank (1-4 ; 5-8 ; 9-12 ; 13-16)
example:
POT1: Brasil - Chile -México - Colombia
POT2: Argentina - USA - Venezuela - Uruguay
POT3: Paraguay - Perú - Canada - Ecuador.
POT4: Bolivia - Cuba - Costa Rica - Guatemala (or Republica Dominicana - Honduras - Panama - Salvador... depends of "Liga de las Américas")
the final stage, with 2 best NT of each group, will be:
1/4 finals (week 14)
semi finals (week 15)
Final (week 00)
that is the idea; all the America nations are invited, today we have confirmed around 16 teams (with 20 NT we´re in conditions of close inscriptions)
in my opinion, a Cup with many teams (more of 16 teams), it´s too hard of organize and need an excesive long time.
I think that SK (Greg) should listen the necessity of official Continental Cups (Copa América, Eurocup, Asian Cup, African Cup...), by this way would be interesting the second part of each World Cup season.
this is my simple and amateur organization experience of a continental cup :)
