Subject: game is dead ? what would you change

2013-08-19 14:02:53
You are very wrong. I am a user without plus. The only active form that I have to help this game is expressed again and again the same: "Gentlemen, you are wrong" Proofread errors because the game is slowly dying. Someday someone will read ...
2013-08-19 14:04:54
Of course, the game still be saved, but developers have to leave that stubborn attitude.

well,, i am glad, at least users here now have a sense of belonging to sokker. and by that, devs must do what ever we want to make us feel happy to play sokker. and when devs follow what we want, all users want, then this game will not dead.
am i correct?

devs must do what ever we want to make us feel happy to play sokker.

That's probably what he means, or part if it. Problem is, he is also the same guy who wrote 2 pages back: Arcade games, Another error of Greg? .... Irony? :P

The funny thing is, many managers in Sokker talk about 'we' when they start complaining, but most of the times they mean 'I'. All managers have many different opinions of what is a good or bad implementation. It is easy for people like Rippio to give their opinion on the forum, but people like him don't seem to understand with every new implementation there are supporters and opponents of these implementations. In other words, it's impossible to make everyone happy, just look at his comment about arcade matches.

And I didn't even mention some implementations are simply a must, like the ads. Money is needed to make sure Sokker won't really die. This is also something to many managers don't seem to understand. Yes, it isn't fun to have these ads, but Sokker needs it to make sure managers can keep playing Sokker for free. The alternative will be no Sokker at all, and I think many managers won't like this alternative at all.

People who think their opinion is the only right opinion are also folly

You talking about Greg?)

Money is needed to make sure Sokker won't really die

Obviously money is necessary. I do not criticize that. What I criticize is the clumsy way in which they try to achieve.

PS: On one reads well see what I write and respond to that. Open your mind

Developers must find a way to get money to support the game. This is evident. But also should beware of seeking money in a way to scare users.
Sokker need both, money and players. If you are very focused on getting the money they will lose to the players and the game will end up dying.

I like to say my opinion about RL and what game should be playing
In RL we all know so much fakes results and the fake isnt random!in every activity in football even at NTs
i dont want fake results in sokker
I want a game who the users can be part of it and not watchers
The randon can exist but in low possibility and i want more tactical part
I hope the next work from the devs, make the game more interesting and more sokker :)

I agree about the stupid ad-penalty.

But for the rest I'm rather happy with Greg. And them critisizing your "don't be stubborn and do what users want, but not arcade games", they sure have a point.

The one thing to try and correct is the high dropout rate of new users, ESPECIALLY between seasons.
Two new managers in my league joined sokker in the between seasons and their is NOTHING for them to do. Oh, they can plan for their Cup game (drubbing) in 10 days....yawn.

Two proposed solutions-
Mentor assigned for each new team. To be a mentor you must show your knowledge of the game- active in Forums, active in Transfer List, and ranking above a certain number say 2000.
Mentors would agree to be in the pool of Mentors for either their country, or languages spoken.
When a new manager is approved, even before assigned a team, this manager is assigned a Mentor that can answer questions that arise.

New Manager Training Guide- (idea ripped from another football website). Give the new managers a series of test to show their basic understanding of the game. Say 15 tests, one to cover each of the main topics in The Rules. Maybe four test a day, work it out so that they need to login 3-4 different days to complete the New Manager Training Guide after which they are awarded $50,000 in extra cash, and also after which they can start to do things such a buying players and new coaches.

I think these would engage the new managers and hopefully sokker can retain more of the new managers that are given a team.

I'd stick at that new manager training guide, cause its almost impossible to find a forum active and TL active person nowadays.

agree.

Mentor assigned for each new team is something the active managers of each country need to coordinate themselves. I don't think that many new managers will keep playing this game when they get a mentor assigned. New managers can't send SKmails or post on forums before an admin approved their registration, so new managers can't ask questions before this approval. And most new managers never come back after first login so most probably this idea won't have that much effect.

All Plus managers can see the New users list in country stats, and by using this list a Plus manager can send all new managers a mentor message (I do that with new Dutch users) or give the list to a non-Plus manager who want to do it :)

The ingame tutorial is a great idea and was an option in the survey poll, but ofcourse this option wasn't voted that much as managers who already play this game don't need that anymore and voted something else they like. I can't blame them, but what managers like and what Sokker needs are sometimes (or even often) 2 completely different things.

To help new managers I have made an easy to use newbie tutorial - How to get started with Sokker tutorial - which you (and every other manager) can post on the newbie forum of your country, and ask the mod/admin if he can give it a sticky so it's always on top of the newbie forum. The link to word doc is at the bottom of the tutorial in 'EXTRA'.

I tried sending emails to new not approved Lithuanian users about your tutorial which was translated to Lithuanian language by our linguist and from around 60 emails 2 were read.

My average of read mails is a little bit better, but also low. That's why a mentor assigned to teams won't work, I think. But I keep doing it as it is always more as nothing, all bits help ;)

An ingame tutorial would be much better, that way new managers have something to do when they login the first time and also learn the game.

I do the same thing and effect is basically the same. Very few new users actually read that letter...

Totally agree!
