Subject: Full Substitution Rules in rules PLEASE

Where can I find the full substitution rules?
Today my ATT got injured. No ATT on the bench. The ME brought on the second highest player on the subs bench instead of the highest player. the highest player was DEF and the second highest was MID.
I thought if not player of same position on bench, then the highest player on bench goes on?
Because the MID came on to replace the ATT, does he play with MID or ATT orders? If he is MID, there are 6 MID's on the field and I lose ALL training. If ATT, only he loses training. Can someone explain what orders he played with please? The rules should have more info IMO. Either way I am losing training and that is annoying.

greg to cometer
sequence is:
(right position)
MID
ATT
DEF
GK
but for goalkeepers I see DEF is checked first so sequence is:
(GK)
DEF
MID
ATT
sequence is:

MID
ATT
DEF

DEF
MID
ATT
top to bottom makes much more sense and allows tactical control
thanks for the answer. that should be added to the rules.
it was also interesting to find whilst searching for the answer that Greg used to come on the public forums. imagine that!

no it wouldnt make more sense and it allow lot less control, because then highest on bench would go into every position getting injured, while many have two different players they would want to use for different positions if injury...... ie. a def mid for the def and mid positions while an att for the att position, your way of doing it would make the same player go in no matter what position gets injured..... :)
your way of doing it would make the same player go in no matter what position gets injured
This current rule the same player goes in no matter what. ALWAYS THE MID. If you still wanted the MID to go in first you could put him at the top of the reserves. If you want a DEF to go in first, with my way you can choose. Currently there is no choice.

But you can put your player as DEF on bench instead.... ;)
Actually your way is already possible, you can just put all the players on the bench with same order, then first on list goes in first...

and also, it chooses the right position before MID, i.e. ATT, if no ATT, THEN MID....
I want to control this situation:
I have no spare ATT to put on bench.
I am training MID so don't want the mid to go on as DEF or ATT but want him to go on to replace MID.
I have spare DEF to put on bench and not training them so happy for him to go on DEF or ATT as a replacement.
