Congrats Vikingo67:) Second place for me is fantastic result:) I thinks that idea 5-2-3 and in second half 5-3-2 with winger was good today. Scores 9-8 for rival, in goals 4-2 but he has better attakers.

Thank you Vikingo! You are a legend in Finland now :D

And congratulations to Krikos also who has done a great job in Scotland.
Silver medal is an awesome achievement for Scotland.

congratulations to both coaches. Amazing result for both. Though I agree on the Suomi tactic.
To be honest, imo this game was purely won on player quality, not on tactics. I tried to see the point in the midfield of Suomi and failed. As for the 3 defenders, it's stupid, especially with this ME where every ball can be won by the attacker as well as the defender or any striker can dribble any defender. Which was visible in the first part of the game. Luckily for Suomi Scotland failed to score and afterwards the ME decided that Suomi defenders would not fail anymore.
Still, in the end it's a deserved WC champion.

Vikingo, please enlighten me on the midfield tactic. I saw its use in throw in positions, but otherwise?

GREAT VIKINGO!

What do you want explained?

I tried to stay fairly covered with low defense to avoid the risk of taking a lot of 1vs1 as has happened in the other games in Scotland.
I raised the midfield instead to try to steal the ball and start trusting and especially in the higher quality of skills of my players.

Of course play as the defense against Romania with 5 very high and very high pressure could be easier, but in my opinion, much more risky.
Of course I put the condition that if at the end of the first half not won, we would have changed tactics in defense with a 4-very high, but it not served.
In 84 minutes Finland won 4 to 0 then ....... 2 of my ducks goalkeeper have fixed the result by 4 to 2, but at least one goal of the team Krikos certainly deserved it.

:)
