Subject: Fake users?

2015-06-10 02:58:39
Ortwin to All
This topic is discussed in xx xxx managers in Sokker, but I think it deserves its own thread.

In few days the number of sokker users is gonna double. This increase is almost unbelievable. It had some positive externalities like the Sokker promotion initiative of adaca. However, I think that among those new users there might be hundreds (or even thousands?) of fake ones.

Charles posted that: According to greg most are legit new users. Sokker is for some reason high in Facebook search, because of that we have all these new sign ups. However this statement still leaves the possibility of having thousands of new fake users open.

One of the countries which has more users than I would expect is Misr. Now it is 170 active/380 waiting teams. I wanted to become U21 coach there during the last elections so I kept an eye on this country. Misr had around 40 users back then, circa 10 of them active (log in at least twice a month). The progress of elections was a bit suspicious so I contacted admin. Then almost all the active users were banned, because teams belonged to one of the candidates who wasn't from Egypt at all. Two active users remained.

Now we can see almost 500 potential users from Egypt. I looked at some of them. Almost all use English language instead of Arabic (but I found one with Català and one with Bosanski language, hilarious) and team and user names often make no sense (i.e. frequent use of numbers in user names, large amount of yahoo and hotmail mail users, capital letters rarely used).

I mean...user names like 123123 (not activated yet) or 0123456789+ (this one is activated, lol) are weird, aren't they? And suddenly 500 users? Did Greg hire prophet Muhammad to promote sokker there?

Now I do not claim that this is the case for all countries. There are certainly people coming from Hattrick and so on. But thousands of new users in few days, seriously?

FUNNY EXAMPLES OF NEW USERS:

I tried to search for user names beginning with 1234, got 11 profiles, all of them quite new. Look at this one from Việt Nam.

Owner: 123456789
Team: truong
Invited 30 users, only 12 of them can be listed (from Bosna, U.A.E., Eesti, USA, Tūnis, Misr, Türkiye (2x), Prathet Thai, Srbija, Việt Nam(2x)).

It seems that this guy promotes sokker a lot and has many friends abroad. Some of the invited users were not activated yet, but some of them were, i.e.

Owner: peraxaxa@hotmail.rs
Team: FC Mine Karadzić 50
Language: Čeština

So, he is from Srbija, but he speaks Czech. And has email at hotmail.rs.

And elections are coming soon. A lot of work for admins.

Fake users. Just look at the average online users.

I think the game is over, unfortunately.
2015-06-10 04:03:02
Exactly. Here is another example.

Tūnis - Statistics

New users registered week by week
2014-08-22 34 1
2014-10-03 40 1
2014-10-06 41 2
2014-10-15 42 1
2014-10-22 43 1
2015-02-21 8 1
2015-03-10 11 1
2015-03-25 13 1
2015-06-01 23 4

Then in few days around 150 new teams and 170 waiting. How many countries are like Misr or Tunis?

Already gold it is because of Facebook.
Next to that, after checking it seems to be real Facebook users.
Also there a lot of Hattrick managers coming to Sokker.

I do not think they are fake. A quick scan makes me think it is something else, like facebook indeed. But altough they are real, it doesn't look they will stay. Most of them registrate and then stop logging in.

Do you find your opinion so important to start a nonsense topic about it??

Be happy with all these new sign ups. Finally something is happening and even then managers start to whine!!

I hope this spam topic is deleted asap.

This assertion that users came from Facebook in my opinion does not make much sense. See the amount of "likes" has the Sokker App, something close to 10,000 users.

https://apps.facebook.com/sokkermanager/?fb_source=search&ref=ts&fref=ts

In my opinion this is a strategy to try to psychologically stimulate the old users. Creating a false impression that the game is expanding.

You don't have to like the app in order to play it. That's what happened, they are finding Sokker easily, decide to give it a go, but as soon as they see that they have to wait, either to get the team or to "play" a match (which to many may not even seem as playing), they turn their backs at it.

That sound a bit conspiracy theory to me... :P

It's fine to distrust a particular explanation for the surge in users, but that doesn't mean blindly trusting any alternative... We have to be equally demanding with all theories. So, while I cannot personally verify the FB story, I certainly haven't read any competing story that makes any sense or is based on any evidence.

Why are you often so aggressive? I cannot have different opinion?

By the way, I might not believe that this is the new golden age of Sokker, but I am still prepared to help new users. In fact, I am trying to revive the Czech tutor system right now and if someone in Misr has any question, he can use the Q&A thread and I will answer him once I am online. They are also provided with your tutorial (including my foreword - a shorter version with links to your tutorial) on Misr forum.

I have very low expectations so if at least one of Misr users becomes active on the forum I will be happy.

It is not a conspiracy theory. :)

In my opinion , it is very easy to see that are not actual members. Usually when you get a team of at least one specific event occurs , for example, the purchase of players , increasing the stadium or technical recruitment ... It can be seen that in any of the new alloys did not happen new events.

Many users are not activated yet, not sure if they can make transfers. Also only 10%-20% logs in more than once - given usual conditions. In this case it will be even less.

No they can't, they have limited access as long as teams aren't accepted by admins. New managers also can't write on forums and send SK mails so they look inactive, only loggin stats will show if they are active or not.

There are a few things they can do like making tactics and line ups, important features in Sokker.

Why are you often so aggressive? I cannot have different opinion?

Yes you can, but why do we need a new topic about it? Can't you just be happy and positive something is finally happening on Sokker?

At the moment it's you doubt against DEVs data .....

That would require a log inafter receiving the team from an admin, which in most cases has not happened yet (and who knows if it will).

So, it may seem obvious to you that these uses aren't "actual", but their existence is beyond debate. So, what are they? Do you have a plausible explanation for the surge in Sokker users?
Because "greg is manually creating thousands of cleverly customized teams in countries whose language he doesn't even speak" doesn't seem to be the answer either :P

You are wrong, my friend. I am Tutor and make contact with new users every week and less than 10% connect the team for the second time.
2015-06-10 18:36:21
That's right. Every mentor, tutor or other staff member can confirm this. Managers who think it's different most probably never did a thing with new managers.
