Subject: [SO] Sokker Organizer BETA public releas

i tried using the in program function for the last two versions and no update occurred. in fact the redownload did not work on those either. i posted about it back when 0.81 came out...but got no answers

ok, sorry for that. In some versions I did not properly upload the necesary/correct files, so the update wasn't always successful (update to same version).
first, things to check:
1.- download the most recent version from the webpage.
2.- check that the doçwnloaded zip name corresponds to the version stated in the page.
3.- unzip it on top of the previous version, overwriting files.
4.- run so.jar, check the version on the load screen.

could u add the ESSC? (end of season sponsor calculator)

np...figured it got missed in a busy period...

ok...download is correct version (0.83).
set to overwrite existing files.
still not updated.

also the "Info" section it says this is still running 0.8. i have tried using the self-extracting file and the zip file for this version, as well as 0.81 and 0.82 in the past. same results. do i need to uninstall and reload? or is there another way to get it to get this done?

that is just weird.

try unzipping it to a new place, and copy/move your data folder there.

ok...after much experimentation (mostly making sure i did not lose the existing data)...it looks like somehow my desktop icon is launching the program from the java files instead of the so file in the program folder. when i launch it directly from the folder, it launches with all the new bells and whistles...(which I love, by the way)...but doesn't access the old data (obviously it's not where i thought it was...suggestions for finding it would be appreciated...). i'm still digging...will post more as i discover it...

ahhh, your desktop icon is the Java Web Start version. That one won't update if you launch it in offline mode (run Java Web Start for more details).

the data from the JWS version is stored in your %home dir%\Sokker Organizer
if you use Windows XP, that is My Documents\Sokker Organizer.

The zip version provides an icon as well, so you can manually make a shortcut to so.jar with a nice icon ;)

i'm having problems with proxy configuration, the authentication is not working, we have a Windows proxy using Active Directory
i can not download anything [cry]

Does your proxy only accept AD authentication?
SO's proxy configuration is standard proxy stuff (plain text), no windows MS-chap stuff, much less active directory, sorry :(

actually...the icon i am using is the one that downloaded...the cool soccer ball looking thingie...i had to manually get the icon to work, too. so i am really confused as to how it got to run that way...


anyway...how do i get the old data pulled to the "new files"?

oh...i run vista on the laptop and xp on the desktop. between my boys and i we have the same issues on both.

just copy the "data/" folder to the new SO installation folder.

ok...finally got it working, i think. took a while to find the data files. somehow the xml files were being stored in my documents. i didn't get the match data from the second half of last season in the league table panel, but it has them all in the matches panel. it also didn't bring across the old junior pop time ratings, but it did bring the number of pops. kind of strange on those two points. but other than that...it works good.
