Countries change names ... there's no intention to upset anyone, but don't be a snowflake either.
Probably ask half of Europe and they'll give you the wrong / old name with no harm intended.
Do you know the new official names of South African states? Do you know when Congo became Zaire and then the other way around and then once again changed the other way around?
