I won't be able to look into these in great detail till monday.

Billy, the gtf feature is kinda heavy (it has to calculate all training for all weeks, which includes looking up matches' mins played, training type, pops for each player), but there is a report that shows all of that, it just wouldn't be sortable in the summary. I didn't want to have the delay in that main screen.

Tell me if the report makes sense.
2007-01-27 17:54:43
That being said, it does seem to be downloading properly, although not allowing entry of training for the week (unless it knows?).

mr_g, this is a new one to me, please go to the training screen and tell me if the current week has already been set in your training history.

It does default it to the previous week, but that screen still should open to show you it's defaulting... "Would you like to enter your training for the week" -> yes goes to the screen i'm talking about (only if training hadn't been entered).

This morning everything was ok. It looks like maybe you have to close and reload the database one time... I will look into the whole closing and reloading thing on Monday. That shouldn't happen.

Did that error message open up when you click the OK button to change the password to what you have entered there? Or did it open up when the setting screen entered?
2007-01-27 17:59:30
It didn't enter anything, so I went to the training thing and added the week manually.

It's definitely all working, it seems to be a trivial odd bug - probably there is some underlying code in their from it being set on your computer I suspect.

I hope you all realize that this is the purpose of my calling this a Beta. I'm trying to find these bugs before the real release when i add the new functionality too. I had to delete ALL of the download code to use the new xml stuff.

Thanks for understanding and participating and giving feedback :)

So mr_g, you're saying that the system actually never asked you about training and that you then went to the screen and it hadn't been there?

My guess is that only part of the download worked because of that error message.

Btw, guys, if the data is being downloaded to the computer, feel free to use the "import old xml data" button on the download screen. There should be NO problems with loading data over and over (unless you manually edit that week, obviously that'd be overwritten if you reload the data - but you really should only have to manually edit if you forget to upload a week and have a "hole" in your data).

If you're getting the invalid path error, please tell me if the data is actually saved and if so, if you can import fine. That'd help me diagnose.

Long post, sorry.

That error message didn`t open with that setting screen at all. I just put those 2 pics together to show that I had set data path properly.

I got the path error when starting the program with pre v2.1 sokker manager. When I used v2.1 sm and latest update I still got the path error after downloading stuff. Program restart cured it however.

I wonder if these people who are getting the path error, are running some early versions of sm with the latest update.

sorry for bad english

The weird thing is also that you'd be getting this at all if you were upgrading.

I thought i stored that data path in your data file.

I need to find out the exact progression when starting from a new installation of v3.0 and from an upgrade which was JUST done (i.e. if someone could revert to their saved copy of the 2.1 database)

Did messages come up when opening?

Did the settings screen open?

Did you change your setting successfully?

If you go back to the settings screen, did you see the updated path or the orginal?

When you download do you see an error message?

When you reboot, are any issues that are fixed?

@sopu, what do you mean by "some early versions of sm with the latest update"? If you unzip and run the 3.0 file, it changes your database so at that point you only have the new version of stuff.
2007-01-28 18:19:05
I made the upgrade from 2.1 to 3.0 and it went like that:
it started and asked to convert the datafile.
then the fields like team name, country and TID were empty.
and also the name for the xml files was empty.
all folders pointed to the old location of the 2.1 database.
everything as it was supposed to do

"@sopu, what do you mean by "some early versions of sm with the latest update"? If you unzip and run the 3.0 file, it changes your database so at that point you only have the new version of stuff. "

I meant this file Sokker_Manager_07-28-2006.zip and this Sokker_Manager_v3.0_Upgrade.zip were not compatible and are giving path error every time.

Since you aren`t meant to use those together I quess it isn`t too important. It gave the same error message though.

I have no working old database so I am just trying new installs.

Rebooting has likely no effect. Settings screen works fine.

Sokker_Manager_v2.1_Full.zip and Sokker_Manager_v3.0_Upgrade.zip together gave some error message during xml data download process(that error message changed between different install tries). Reboot cures this however and program works fine after this.

@sopu: This beta was only for old users, i thought i mentioned that, but it's a few pages back.

When i release 3.0, it will come with a blank database.

Someone who's gettign that path error message, please sk-mail me.

Hey guys, billy's (?) question about GTF visibility for all players made me think... How many of you use the reports? Are they as helpful as i think they are (i use them pretty often before i make a major switch to my training plan or whatever...)

For those of you who don't, why not? You never noticed? Not helpful? Any suggestions?

I'm still with the error:

"sokker-->You canceled the previous operation.. Insert SQL (stored in buffer)was"
2007-01-29 23:12:03
Honestly, I have only clicked the report button one time. I just never pay much attention to it. But then again I hardly ever switch training as in your example. I usually train the same skill at least a solid season. With my current skill I plan to train 2+ seasons before switching.

I just took a second look at the reports though and they are usefull. I guess I just always want to work from within the Player Summary form. Occasionally I will jump to the junior form, but everything else I pretty well ignore including the report and matches button.

I think that if you were to go to a tab interface it would help. I think more people would be inclined to click the report tab than they are going to want to open up a totally new form for the reports. Thats just my opinion.

Long post sorry....and I'm going to follow it up with another :)

I have run across two bugs that are related. I noticed it because one of my matches does not show an average rating for my team. TROGDOR vs Pink Pirate is the match. All the rest of my matches show the average ratings correctly.

Well I got to looking and a noticed some other odd things about this match. On the match details page, it shows Pink Pirates' tactic name instead of mine, also on the detail page all of our stastics for play in the half, possession, shots, etc is swapped. BUT if I click on the edit match button, the shots swap. So that the shots are correct and everything else is wrong. On this particular match there is no data on the players that played in the match.

I checked another match where my average rating is shown and all of the data is correct on the match detail form, but once again the shots swap when I click on the edit button.

So there is a bug causing that one match to be totally messed up. And a bug that causes the shots to swap when you bring up the edit match details.

Here is a picture of the match versus Pink Pirates. I have both the details and the edit form up so you can see how the shots are swapping.
