My web-host has kept talking of a "short interruption of services" while my website is down for almost one day now:

I’ve got another suggestion, a good feature always call another good feature :-)
While using the transfer comparator, I thought it would be very useful if we could also have the median price for an age +1, so we know what the player is worth over time.. before buying stupidly like I did :-)

I will keep it in mind for later, but right now I have other problems. My website is still not working and I have no influence on it. I mean: The website itself is online again but it cannot connect to the database and therefore it keeps throwing exceptions... :-(. But yeah, the database is still there, it just doesn't really help because it's not accessible.

I opened another ticket and asked the web-host for assistance but I cannot expect too much since its only a cheap hosting... I'm thinking of changing my web-host in the future though since I'm also quite annoyed about how slow the webserver is.

I actually had a feature in mind which goes basically in the same direction as what you propose:

How if you can make a search and then on the top of the search result there is a dropdown or a number-textfield where you can choose ANY age and click "Search" again? This would give you even more flexibility wouldn't it?

Yes, better idea, need one more click but more flexible.

Sokker-Manager.net will remain offline for the next weeks.

This is the new reality and now some more detailed news about what happened:

Last Thursday (14 Oct.) the host server of sokker-manager.net was no longer accessible.
According to the hosting company an accident destroyed data of the host server, of the file server and of the backup server(!).
Thousands of websites worldwide had the same problem, which also affected sokker-manager.net.

Now, the host-company has new servers, with no backup-data rescued from the old servers. Nevertheless, sokker-manager.net could be back online, because Ramonymous had made a backup-copy on his own pc. He also stored a backup of the transfer data of about 400,000 transfers - so the damage would be only a loss of about 12% of the registered transfers.

However the site will remain offline, because the new servers have a different configuration than the old ones and it is time-consuming to adapt all parts of the code of sokker-manager.net to the new server configuration. Moreover, this new configuration may change again - there is no information about this problem form the host company side. (it may sound exaggerated, but a small detail, like e.g. a different time-server on the new servers, can cause a big mess on sokker-manager.net).

I repeat it, it is time consuming to adapt all parts of the code of sokker-manager.net to the new server configuration and I want to remind you that Ramonymous is very busy.
We were all lucky that Ramonymous had the knowledge and drive to onvest his valuable time n developing such a tool as sokker-manager.net and now he has bigger priorities in his life. I am not saying that this is the end of sokker-manager.net. I'm just saying that the site will remain offline for a few weeks. I would also like to ask you for something:
Please keep control of yourselves and let this anouncement (my anouncement) be the last one on this topic until the site will be online again.

Tak wygląda nowa rzeczywistość, a teraz kilka bardziej szczegółowych wiadomości o tym co się stało:

W zeszły czwartek (14.10.) serwer sokker-manager.net nie był już dostępny.
Według firmy hostingowej, wypadek zniszczył dane serwera hosta, serwera plików i serwera zapasowego(!).
Tysiące stron internetowych na całym świecie miało ten sam problem, który dotknął również sokker-manager.net.

Teraz firma hostingowa ma nowe serwery, bez kopii zapasowych danych ze starych serwerów. Mimo to, sokker-manager.net może być z powrotem online, ponieważ Ramonymous zrobił kopię zapasową na swoim własnym komputerze. Przechowywał on również kopię zapasową danych transferowych około 400,000 transferów - tak więc uszkodzenie byłoby tylko utratą około 12% zarejestrowanych transferów.

Jednak strona pozostanie offline, ponieważ nowe serwery mają inną konfigurację niż stare i dostosowanie wszystkich części kodu sokker-manager.net do nowej konfiguracji serwerów jest czasochłonne. Co więcej, ta nowa konfiguracja może się znowu zmienić - nie ma żadnych informacji o tym problemie ze strony firmy hostingowej. Powtarzam, że dostosowanie wszystkich części kodu sokker-manager.net do nowej konfiguracji serwerów jest czasochłonne i chcę przypomnieć, że Ramonymous jest bardzo zajęty.
Wszyscy mieliśmy szczęście, że Ramonymous miał wiedzę i zapał, aby zainwestować swój cenny czas w rozwój takiego narzędzia jak sokker-manager.net, a teraz ma większe priorytety w swoim życiu. Nie mówię, że to koniec sokker-manager.net. Mówię tylko, że strona pozostanie offline przez kilka tygodni. Chciałbym Was też o coś poprosić o coś:
Proszę o zachowanie kontroli nad sobą i niech to ogłoszenie (moje ogłoszenie) będzie ostatnim na ten temat, dopóki strona nie będzie znowu online.

El pasado jueves (14 de octubre) el servidor de alojamiento de sokker-manager.net dejó de ser accesible.
Según la empresa de alojamiento, un accidente destruyó los datos del servidor anfitrión, del servidor de archivos y del servidor de copia de seguridad (!).

For those who are interested in technical details ;-):

The webhost messed up with the configuration of the new server. Certain code that worked before and still works on localhost is suddenly not getting executed anymore. And after the downtime they suddenly changed the timezone from European Standard Time to Pacific standard time (UTC-08:00). Moreover the time itself (the amount of minutes) is not correct anymore. This has consequences for many parts of the code, because my engines heavily rely on scheduled cronjobs and they all assume that the DateTime-values are in European Standard time. Moreover I don't know if the webhost will still set back the server-time to the original time within the next days (I think they are still about to tidy up the whole mess they caused).

Of course there are solutions for such problems but they are less obvious than you might think: E.g. if you just add 9 hours to each dateTime you might fall into a trap, because soon there will be the change from summer-time to winter-time and not all timezones actually do this change of clock. Moreover: What if they "secretly" change back to European time... then my +9 hours would suddenly be 9 hours too much.

Yet it's not just about server-issues: I don't trust my current web-host anymore, so I'm thinking about migrating the website to another host. Unfortunately it's not that easy to find an affordable, reliable web-host that supports asp.net technology. I really have to dig deep, because many webhosts basically fake customer-reviews resp. they pay for fake positive reviews while in reality they offer low quality.

And as tsolias already mentioned: sokker-manager.net is just one hobby of mine. I have other obligations and pendings which have a higher priority right now.
