World Cup 1/8 Final – England 2:1 Italy – The Italian Job by Triglio
What a story, folks. What. A. Story.
Before the match, Italy led by the experienced coach Pavoniana were seen as the clear favorites. A team with 3043 ranking points, an average rating of 82.6, and a golden World Cup pedigree (2x Gold, 2x Silver, 1x Bronze). Meanwhile, England coached by an Italian himself, Triglio entered the game as massive underdogs (2638 points, average rating 78.3).
And yet, football once again proved why we love it: because numbers can’t measure heart.
An Italian coach… leading England to knock out Italy. You couldn’t script it better. One nation celebrates, another mourns and the plot twist is pure Sokker poetry.
Pre-Match: The Giants and the Dreamers
Italy’s Road to the World Cup looked like a demonstration tour:
23–0 vs Ghana, 7–0 vs Malta, 6–0 vs Australia they crushed everything in their path. They breezed through Group G with 3 wins (vs Russia, Bosnia, Sweden). Pure domination.
England’s Journey? Quite the opposite. A rocky start a 0:4 defeat against Poland in Group D made many doubt their chances. But then came the turnaround:
2–0 vs Israel, 3–0 vs the Netherlands. Step by step, Triglio’s men started to click. And when knockout time came, they looked confident, organized, and hungry.
The Match: Passion vs Power
Let’s dive into the drama. Both teams lined up in a 5-3-2 formation, but with different philosophies.
England attacked down the wings fast, wide, unpredictable.
Italy built their play through the middle patient, structured, confident.
But early on, England shocked everyone.
7th minute:
Ramsdale breaks through, shoots — GOOOOOAAAL! England 1–0!
Fumagalli, the Italian keeper, beaten. The English bench explodes.
27th minute:
Gazza floats a perfect cross, Hatton rises above everyone, header GOAL! 2–0 England!
The Italian defense looked stunned, Pavoniana speechless.
66th minute: Italy finally responded. Dore’s effort hits the post GOAL! 2–1.
The Italians fought hard till the end, but couldn’t find the equalizer.
The final whistle came like thunder: England 2, Italy 1. Shock, disbelief, celebration.
Shots: 9–5 for England.
Triglio’s tactics were spot on: brave, attacking, and full of energy.
Man of the Match:
Matt Gazza ENGLAND
He didn’t score, but he dictated the rhythm. Two assists, endless energy, and complete control of the midfield. Gazza’s creativity was the spark that set England’s wings on fire. Without him, those goals don’t happen. A true leader on the pitch.
Honorable mention: Ramsdale, for his goal and constant threat in attack.
Key Match Stats
Tactical Masterclass by Triglio
Triglio knew exactly what to do he neutralized Italy’s strong midfield with pressing and used the wings to perfection. The irony? It took an Italian coach to show how to beat Italy.
His substitution timing was spot on, and the team showed mental strength after the early group loss to Poland.
What’s Next for England?
This England side has momentum. They’ve already beaten one of the tournament’s top favorites. The chemistry is growing, the defense looks solid, and the attack is clinical.
Can they go for a medal? Absolutely.
With Triglio at the helm, nothing seems impossible anymore. England’s bronze-medal coach might be writing a golden sequel this time.
To the Fans of Italy
Sometimes football is cruel. Italy looked unstoppable, yet one inspired night ended their dream. Hold your heads high — your team remains one of the world’s best.
And perhaps, just perhaps… next time destiny will smile again on the Azzurri.
This match will go down as one of the great World Cup upsets in Sokker history
England’s resilience, Gazza’s brilliance, Ramsdale’s determination, and Triglio’s tactical genius combined to create magic.
England march on.
Italy go home.
And the Sokker world just witnessed a masterpiece.

My personal opinion is that I agree that the matches are arcade-like in the national team, but the players' skills must always be visible, without anyone being able to hide them
Just unlock Allow button as option for the NT coach and no problem with hiding players! :D
And perhaps, just perhaps… next time destiny will smile again on the Azzurri.

Thank you. We could have reached the semi-finals. Small details got in the way. The goalkeeper was injured, the main striker was in 0 form. Of course, reaching this point can be considered a great success. But it could have been better. We had interesting seasons. I will not be a candidate in the new season. I wanted to end with a great final but it didn't happen :) I think it's time for new excitement.
