Exclusive Interview with baloomao , World Champion Coach of France!
Hello again to all fans of national teams!
The World Cup may already be behind us, but we refuse to let those emotions fade away. Now that the dust has settled and hearts have finally slowed down to a safe tempo, I invite you to read a special interview with none other than baloomao, the man who led France to the World Championship title!
1. First of all, congratulations! How does it feel to become World Champion?
baloomao:
I still can’t stop laughing! Honestly, every time someone calls me “World Champion”, I start giggling like a kid who just stole candy. It’s unbelievable.
2. What were your expectations before the tournament? Did you believe you could reach the final?
baloomao:
Before the World Cup I had only one goal: don’t end up in the group of death with zero goals scored. That was it.
Grand final? Nope. Survival mode was already stressful enough!
3. Which match was the most difficult and why?
baloomao:
Every match felt like preparing for an exam in a subject I’d never studied.
But if I had to pick… the first knockout match against Vietnam was slightly easier thanks to some help from releme huge thanks!
Borkos007 also helped a bit for the Spain match. Merci to both!
4. What moments from the tournament will you remember the most?
baloomao:
Oh, there were so many:
The final it played out exactly as I predicted: 1–1 after 90 minutes, 2–2 in extra time… I called it before the match!
The last match in the “group of death”, where every single action could’ve knocked us out against Romania.
The completely insane match against Spain.
My unbelievable luck against Brazil.
But the funniest part?
A well-known Polish manager, Kejto European arcade club champion kept telling me during qualifiers that I was such a weak coach he’d never play an arcade match against me. Then… radio silence since the quarter-finals. I wonder why! (laughs)
5. Let’s talk tactics. What was your approach? What worked best? Did this tournament teach you anything?
baloomao:
French coaches watching my games said I must be completely crazy. And honestly… maybe they’re right!
I used a lot of risky strategies. My favorite formation against strong teams is 5-4-1.
Against others, like in the final, I went with a 5-3-2 for the first 80 minutes.
My second tactic? Pure madness. Always different, always unpredictable.
And what a pleasure when the coin kept landing on the right side!
I also learned something important:
Even with a red card, the match is never lost.
In the final, I played 30+30 minutes with only 10 players after my best defender was sent off in the 60th minute while he was marking England’s winger!
6. What would you like to say to fans who supported you during the tournament?
baloomao:
Merci! Truly.
French coaches, foreign coaches, even coaches whose teams I eliminated I was shocked to receive so many encouraging messages.
In France, forum comments were hilarious:
“80 seasons without winning an A-NT World Cup… and it’s BALOO who brings us gold? This must be a joke!”
Yes, in France I’m known more as a clown than a tactical genius! (laughs)
7. Will you continue working with this team, or plan to take another direction?
baloomao:
I hope my victory inspires many French coaches to take over after this NT season.
But for now, the next big step is the Euro quarter-final against Belgium hosted by the brilliant and generous sviktorov, Bulgaria’s coach.
He could’ve won the WC himself… if I hadn’t been so lucky!
8. Choose the best player of your team and your best formation.
baloomao:
Landry Charpentier our offensive midfield hero against Spain.
Thierry Béguin the 3×18 striker who brought France the World Cup in the final.
Marcel Favreau and the entire defensive wall incredible guys. Big thanks to his Greek owner Silent Assassin for sharing his skills and discussing his readiness.
And of course…
Mounir Ferrand what a goalkeeper!
In the final, he was simply majestic. The true hero of France.
9. What was the biggest surprise of the tournament? And the biggest disappointment?
baloomao:
The biggest surprise?
Me. Absolutely me.
Nobody not even I believed this was possible.
People in the French community even call me Obelix probably because I'm both tall and… well… 111 kg heavy. (laughs)
Other great surprises were England, Brazil, Ireland, Senegal, Vietnam incredible runs!
The biggest disappointment?
Probably one Polish manager I know.
(And no, I don’t mean borkos007 he actually beat England 4–0 in his first match and even beat France in a friendly!)
10. To whom would you like to dedicate this success?
baloomao:
First of all, to juytt , creator of the amazing “sokkertable” tool.
Without that masterpiece, I would never have become World Champion.
And also to the devs for allowing NT coaches to see players’ skills when owners agree this makes smaller nations like France competitive with giants like Romania, Poland, Italy, Brazil or Turkey.
11. The last question is yours — say whatever you want to say at the end of this World Cup!
baloomao:
A massive “Merci” to Krzysztof for making this World Cup so exciting with his articles, analyses, and passion for Sokker.
Thanks to all French managers who contributed players:
clarom, nikos du 59, PerApe, lubain, falovaro, passiflore, troneglace, chbens, blanchonni, djamnet, Michel, Umbre, Cosminboss, Rawm1, rikou94 and many more I surely forgot.
Thanks also to renfe I’m sure he will help the French NT very soon. He knows exactly how.
And finally, thank you to “the special one”, the previous NT France coach. His work laid the foundation for this victory.
Now…
Let’s go win the Euro!
…or maybe not. (laughs)
