What a great tradition!

Don't really know what you're talking since last World Cup final was between England and France and both of them didn't play with Portugal in qualifiers

Previous World Cup was won by Poland who didn't play you in qualifiers

3rd last World Cup was won by Germany who also didn't play you in qualifiers

But I'm sure it is a great tradition though

The second-placed team in Portugal's qualifying group is crowned world champion when Portugal finishes in first place. Now the information is complete.

from what I see Portugal winning the group happened twice before

Season 68 Polish user won the 1st place with Portugal and then 2nd Croatia won the gold

Season 32 jvagos won 1st place with Portugal in qualifiers and then Romania won the gold, but Romania wasn't in qualifiers with Portugal

so it's 50/50, basically so far it happened once

wouldn't call that a "tradition" but hey, why not
