Subject: Team building discussion

It is manager game after all, and you need to run club and not only coach your team. :)

My problem was I always tried something with players I had on disposal, to play and compete with almost first players I bought combined with few old ones. But without money it is near impossible to do it.
Then I made 50M out of nothing (around 500k invested) and now I try to make much stronger and balanced team. I bought few quality players for good price, and have 3 home grown players (around 30M worth).

Someone said to me: "You can't rely on pure luck and go with cheap players all the time! You will probably never play 1st league, not even in Hrvatska, which is lower tier Sokker country!"
Well, challenge accepted! But it takes time in Sokker to prove a point... :))

my defs looked like this - first day 21yo

formidable [11] stamina tragic [0] keeper
unearthly [16] pace outstanding [12] defender
solid [8] technique very good [9] playmaker
excellent [10] passing adequate [6] striker

very good [9] stamina tragic [0] keeper
unearthly [16] pace formidable [11] defender
very good [9] technique solid [8] playmaker
excellent [10] passing solid [8] striker

and those are very much ok defs, but nothing jaw-dropping

Are those defenders now 26 or 28?

I noticed two critical problems in my training:

At the moment I'm training players for U21. Someone who is concentrated at own team entirely can make better players for themself and later NT. Can be I made good decision if I win few games next season with 21y players high at pace/def and stay in league without doubling positions and player number for league and training. This can be nice compensation for fewer skils.

Second, I had almost all 10 players in different ages - ok, I made nice profit from this type of training, but now I have 15/15 defender with ~21 secondaries, as players I sold were f.e. 24y with 30+ secondaries, and I needed to make their pace/defender 17 to maximize profit and used them to win league games so I can buy trainers (2nd time - after retirement), build stadium and stay in league whole time! Our 3rd league is mainly bot league and if demoted there I should downgrade trainers or close YS not to go bankrupt.

(Possibly 3rd) - I still need to make profit from transfers, as 10 seasons is not even close to accumulate enough money to train 10 players solely for own team and have decent substitutions later. I am well aware I need to make additional profit and this is already in progress! ;)

If you would make a game that would enable top team to train youngsters, stay competetive and make money - this woud lead to a very hard situation for anyone that is not on top.

How would a new guy come from bottom league to the top, when the top teams are stronger, have more money and keep earning more. Very hard, right.
I mean, I am fully aware that this is would be very realistic, because in real life things work exactly as you described them - which is why you will not see Yeovil Town winning Premier league and then going for a Champions league final where they beat Real Madrid 4-0...

Point of the game is to be dynamic, and to create imbalance you need something like this (and famous random factor that is definitely above the one in regular football matches). If rich gets richer and stronger, then well.... this game would suck for 95% users

Are those defenders now 26 or 28?

both 26 now. 2-3 trainings away from 2x18, but I am waiting that they pop on general training

formidable [11] stamina tragic [0] keeper
divine [17] pace superdivine [18] defender
formidable [11] technique incredible [13] playmaker
incredible [13] passing solid [8] striker

formidable [11] stamina tragic [0] keeper
divine [17] pace divine [17] defender
formidable [11] technique formidable [11] playmaker
outstanding [12] passing very good [9] striker

I believe with the new system to optimize, your team needs be within 2-3 years difference. For me currently 26-27-28
2025-11-26 11:40:35
Yup, I'm aiming for 2 seasons difference (current 16-17) although possibly you can have ATTs a year younger since they can peak faster compared to MIDs and DEFs.
2025-11-26 11:51:42
For mids it would be optimal to have them +2, def and att on 0 and +1
Even if a mid drops from 18 to 16+++ pace, or from 18pm to 17pm, that is still a great player.

but I really couldn't optimize that much because my player pool is very small.

I know.

There is no actual 'being dynamic' in this game, however. There's one and only one play to play successfully. Spend 7-10 seasons (most leagues non-Polish, if you are Polish it will take 10-15 seasons) learning the game, how to figure out actual good talent trainees and flipping players while being non-competitive. Then buy a merc team while constantly training and selling kids.

This is effectively /thread for this entire topic.

One of the reasons this game fails to retain players is exactly this, who wants to play a browser based game where the only real draw is the tactical ME where your team has to suck for 2 calendar years + just to get into something resembling the competitiveness loop? If there were a situation where there was true competition in the 30-45 team score area it would be a different story. This, you actually see in professional sports leagues. Yeovil Town has a reason to win there league games and most teams in its division are both similar in skill and all are competing also. The goal is league 2.

A solution would be more of a tier based international league, but I realize even this won't be perfect as teams will buy and sell players, radically changing the league landscape all of the time. At least there'd be some competition to look forward too though on a weekly basis. If this option were available, honestly I would just sell all of my 18-22 players now and rebuild from scratch next season. Money wouldn't be a real issue then. If I did this anyway, I'd be set up for absolute boredom for an entire year.

anyway, I can stop posting on this thread.
I will just deal with the situation as presented as best I can, or I just won't. Doesn't matter to anyone else :)
2025-11-26 15:58:30
well yes, I fully get what you say.
I spent a few seasons chilling ,then beginning 2023 I bought 16yo... then training, then this... I mean, it is a game that takes time and as I am a 44year old guy with job and shit, this is the pace I enjoy.

I fully get that this game has chances of reaching at best like 1% of population aged 15-25, because... like, honestly, browser based slow game. LOL, any decent game has an app, and you have something going all the time. This is like a dinosaur, but it is still one of the few fair to play games. There is no plus to have good form, or special feature to pick the skill distribution of juniors if you pay "junior super feature".

It is old school, has a certain charm and is a very annoying game due to shitty random and other stuff. But it is as it is, and yes, this is a topic to discuss what I think is the best possible way to win in this game.
Is it an ideal game, no... but is there a such a game really :)
2025-11-26 16:15:26
here a 22yo playing it :))
2025-11-26 17:25:39
you are that 1% :))))
2025-11-26 17:47:02
yeap, sadly hahaha

Like most older users, having sold a team a few times and have rebuilt it starting with 16yo

After 10 seasons I sold most of my "old" trainees, and must say - it isn't only way to start next campaign!

Sold 6 players I paid 4 000 $ - 150 000 $ each for around 36 000 000 $ and one I trained from my YS for 15 000 000 $. Kept those in 2y difference and started to build nice team and training 4 Croatian players whole time! Made only 1-2 "mistakes" recently (sold those without profit) when I found more suitable players.

IMHO going again from a scratch with few hundred M on account and not trying to win something next 10+ seasons wouldn't be so exciting.

Are there any other approaches?

I searched for proven talents, used my list of scouted players when I was Hrvatska U21 Coach and later on, compared developement with similar players and used expirience I gathered from topics like this and then carefully organised training so I can get all trainees in +/-1 skill difference and bought players I assumed/knew have talent 3.5 or better.

I paid almost same amount you mentioned above:

Horvatovic - YS
Linic - YS
Turkovic - 218 212 $
Verbic - 8 884 000 $
Cuadrado - 4 500 000 $
Tămâie - 5 000 000 $
Voldàn - 6 441 000 $
Di Giglio - 4 812 594 $
Bolun - 12 191 408 $
Fregoso - 6 730 016 $

Almost exactly 50 000 000 $

Except Linic and Di Giglio (20y), all are now 22y. My greatest problem is I didn't have 40M remaining amount like you, as I needed to build stadium and buy coaches playing in 2nd league (earnings are not so good, more like +/-0 with good coaches, and average players).

This is one example how I train players:

formidable [11] stamina tragic [0] keeper
magical [15] pace magical [15] defender
very good [9] technique excellent [10] playmaker
very good [9] passing good [7] striker

adequate [6] stamina tragic [0] keeper
magical [15] pace magical [15] defender
outstanding [12] technique excellent [10] playmaker
good [7] passing adequate [6] striker

solid [8] stamina tragic [0] keeper
magical [15] pace magical [15] defender
good [7] technique very good +2 [9] playmaker
outstanding [12] passing average [5] striker

Organising training this way is something like side quest! :))

Did you guys considered to change approach now when IC is introduced, or you think it is same old story of endless buying/selling and starting over, again and again?

Best regards!

Hello, very interesting topic. About the third parameter, how do you discriminate what is a good, normal, and bad talent while increasing skills? For example, a 18yo player training defense, increasing from 8 to 9 in 2 weeks considered good, 3 weeks consideres normal, 4 weeks considered bad, is there a guide somewhere to compare progress of players in different ages/skills to have an idea about what to consider a good, normal and bad talent?

For example, a 18yo player training defense, increasing from 8 to 9 in 2 weeks considered good

I combine advance and general training to determine how talented player is:

This is 20y, 21y, 22y technique, but you probably get the point.
You dont know players subskill (this numbers under training graphic) and you need few consecutive skillups to know talent (approximately) better.
