Subject: [DEV] International Cup
Honestly I disagree, if anything you can make a claim that CC was Mickey Mouse cup... I'm not saying it was, buy if anything this name would be better for it than for INT cup
you could do nothing for 10 years, then buy a good team, win national cup season 1, then win CC season 2 - impossible with INT cup, you need consistency for seasons in a row
you say that you had to win something to play in it - yes, for example one of many leagues where rating 50 allowed you to destroy every team in country :P
~half of Champions Cup teams was playing for very low rating, while hundreds of much stronger teams couldn't play, for me it's illogical
INT cup will have ALL best teams in the world, instead of 10% of them...
it's the same if you'd say that you want equal number of teams from Africa and Asia and Europe at World Cup... 20+ ~80 rating teams in Europe, 0 such teams in Africa, but according to Champions Cup logic there should be same number from Africa and Europe...
~80 rating Serbia or Hellas would not play at World Cup, but ~60 rating Keyna would play instead of them and that would make the World Cup better and more prestigious?

you have a point here, but with new qualification for every new season the IC would be a big motivation to reach a better position in your national league. I would have preferred new qualifications to this promotion system.
I hope Geston talks the devs into giving us something in addition to the cup, 11th training position or less injury duration. Would be great.

We have to agree to disagree, because you are now bringing in factors like ratings that have nothing to do with a cup called Champions cup. And yes, to qualify you needed to make a squad, get all the way to first league, or Cup, win it, and then win CC. There was numerous factors that stopped a lot of teams from winning this Cup, and that helped some other teams win it a few times... so there was a way, and it is how the game was played
Saying it is now better because the average rating of teams is better or whatever, isnt valid for me... it is Champions Cup, and it is played by champions, not by team from Romanian 2nd league (with all repsect for my Romanian orthodox bros)
I see nothing against this being tier 2 competition. After some time we wil end up having 50-60% of teams from top 2-3 nations, and yes, I find it boring.
This will not be some progress, but rather a change in system of play. I mean, whatever, we will still be playing and all, but I do not see this as ste forward. Probably a side step

that was one of the considered options
for me it was the worse one - 128 places, you would have to allocate 98/128 for champions of every league and the rest 30 would probably go to cup winners, so same issue as Champions Cup... but with even worse consequences :) 2nd level would not have low rating champions, so in fact the 2nd level would end up as being stronger / more demanding than highest level, which would be absurd.
and that would happen every season - it would be harder to win 2nd level than 1st level. you will see that in the first arcade season, there will be a huge difference in average level of teams at those tiers.
I also don't think it would be good for those low rating teams, every season after winning their league (Kenya, Nigeria etc.) they would end up as punching bags, getting beaten 0:10 in group stage by teams with 20+ higher rating than them... terrible experience. and those are often teams that are bored in their country because they have no good opponents at their level to compete and have fun - with INT cup in chosen form they will with time play at their adequate level and be able to play human teams instead of bots in their national league...
ed: another issue was that you could ignore INT cup for 10 seasons using it as a place to train youngster in safe tactics, and then just participate at highest level & win it the moment you win your national league, so same issue as CC...
other than that more minor issues - you could win level 2 and then next season play in level 3 because you went down in national league / you could lose all games in level 2 and then play in level 1 because you promoted in your national league etc.

For me changing a small competition for 128 teams into a competition where everyone can participate is a step forward, also creating a competition with the highest level in club history is also step forward for me. This will be like World Cup for club teams.
You could've preferred CC, that's individual. For me it never really made sense that I could play against a 50-rating team, while team #2 from Italy, Romania etc. playing for 75+ couldn't participate. I saw it as a competition for all best teams and it wasn't that.

you could solve this problem with a country key like the UEFA ranking for champions league - with the chance for Kenya to promote in this ranking, if a club has good results. Of course in top level there should be the best teams.
Like I was writing, simply different approach and preferences
It will be much more often that we have semifinalists from usual countries, and much less chances of some weak team kicking a favourite out... but ok, that is how it is :)

I'm not sure that would be a good idea though and if it would be possible to adapt it to the game. Maybe better than the "Champions Cup teams" but would still create issues. For example, country key is based on the wins/draws of teams, which works in real life because there is a limiter number of teams from country (1-8) in European competitions.
Here you wouldn't have a limited number of teams, which would instantly kill every small and average country, because country with 100 teams will always make more points that country with 5 teams in such system.

Maybe to create a CC staying/not poll?

I agree.
I don't think it's a step forward.
I would also keep the Champions Cup, where the champions play.
And this International League, where everyone plays, would be an additional competition.

I mean... do you prefer "surprises" where engine gives a handicap win to a weak team? I prefer strong teams playing every week and the better team wins than such surprises...
This season the final was from what I remember Serbia - Suomi, between teams playing for 79-80... other teams like Estonian SK playing for 83, Hungarian ufhcsTC playing for 83, Croatian Kondori for 82 etc.
In every country you can create a monster team, there are no limits here, it depends on users... and if you were able to win CC with 77-78 you will still be able to do that in INT cup

Im honestly surprised by some responses, the idea of the cup was done mostly for non-Polish (non-Italian, non-Romanian etc.) users. The point was to allow teams from smaller countries to compete and have interesting games every week, instead of only playing bots or same teams every week of every season.
Although so far most people "against" are those who already played in Champions Cup so for them it might be nothing new/special and it adds nothing to their game because they "already had it" and now it will be just different / harder.

You can't have 2 different international competitions at the same time. It would also lead to a weird situation where Champions Cup would have a weaker level than the International Cup, so some (for example me) League/Cup winners wouldn't want to take part in Champions Cup because they would prefer International Cup etc. It would get too messy.
I want to play with the best teams and that means more money from sponsors and more money from tickets and with that way the game will be more intrested i think
All Bulgarian teams will be forced to play in this cup
Most of time not for me difference in rating will be too big to overcome so all fans and ranking points to go toward big countries
How this will affect me they will have less fans and lower expectations toward me so lesss income to those want to compete to top polish teams
I can overcome 10 ratings and 80 ratings team in one game check my cc performance to do that in group stage will be tough
Yes interesting cup but if is arcade
What bothers me domestic championship do not matter National cup do not matter we will lose national identity that will reflect on national teams do not start me on injuries and so many games national players will play...
Shiny idea but not well thought
