Subject: [DEV] International Cup

@Poey&Islander
Doesn't make sense to me IN THIS particular season, since it is arcade so you don't get training anyway

You can play with youths in 1st Div, you can play with youths in 6th Div

Only difference is that in Div 1 you will get much more money from tickets than in Div 6, so what's the point in relegating this season on purpose?

Relegation on purpose will be pointless, it's better to play at higher level, if you get relegated due to training - yeah, different story

Of course it will be good to play arcade this season, but without relegation and promotion also.
2025-12-22 16:05:44
oh for sure. it would make no sense at all to 'throw' on purpose.
2025-12-22 16:06:16
I don't get your point. If you relegate on purpose you will just lose money.
Lower division = worse opponents = less income from tickets.
If anything this season should be the one that everyone wants to push as much as possible.
Even those that are going to tank international cup on purpose to train their players.

Ed. There will be nbo expectations for international cup in the foreseebable future (not before 2026 according to Geston?) if that is something that makes you think it would be better to start lower and to get easy wins.

well.... It can be more profitable to train young players at lower division, but with this extra income I am with you, as older players will increase value again, then profitability for older will be better. also the extra attendance income. Now it will be more balanced the difference bretween trying to get high performance or trying to train the best juniors.
Still I think the profitability for training juniors will be higher (which should still be) but the gap will be reduced.

It depends on team and potential to go further in the tournament.

12 weeks of extra ticket income is really good money at high level, most won't make that much on training.

And "only training" mode will end up with 6 games = end of training so it's not as easy. If it was a league format with 11-13 games / season then yeah, training would be the better option.

But here with Poey we were discussing only 1st season & the idea to relegate on purpose, which doesn't make any sense in terms of finances / training.
2025-12-22 16:21:16
Yes, that is what I meant.
Profit for training juniors in a lower division will be higher, so relegation in the arcade season will bring more profit the next season.

So arcade is ok, but relegation/ promotion in a arcade season is not ok.

It doesn't make sense

Profit for training juniors will be exactly the same in every league that you will play because it's based only on minutes played

Only difference will be more or less from tickets based on who you will play
2025-12-22 16:24:12
As explained, it does matter in finanince.
2025-12-22 16:26:25
No, you are not right.
It will be more easy to win the cup ( and/or to play 6 extra play off matches )in lower division.
I lower division you can play with trainees to reach above.

So win, win and win in lower division.

Yes, it matters, if you relegate then you will earn less
2025-12-22 16:27:41
You will earn more, as explained.

Everybody can have his own opinion of course.
I am 100% sure you will have more profit in lower division, in total of course.

can you please decide what your point is here? :P

before you were writing about making money on training

now you are writing about winning the cup, so no training :P

I'm not sure if advancing further in lower league will make up for worse ticket money due to worse opponents. It might, it might not, even if we assume that in higher league you'd be eliminated already in group stage. Remember that in knockout stage you'd face weaker opponents, often on their stadium, with 50% split of ticket money.

More training for trainees = more profit.
Lower league is easier to reach the 6 extra matches = more profit.

In lower league you can win with extra training for trainees. This wont be possible in highest league.

There are more opinions, not yours only ;)

I'm absolutely lost at what your point is.
Explain it to me like i am 7 years old please. Preferably with an example.

Playing against weaker opponents you will earn less money. This should be clear and indisputable, right?
So where does the profit come from? To negate loss on ticket income + earn even more.
2025-12-22 16:33:21
As said, there are more things in it.
Negative and positive things at both sides.
I am 100% sure it will be better in lower division in total ( all things together).
