Subject: [DEV] International Cup

No, it doesn't matter who you play against. What matters individually is skills, form, OFF% and DEF% in relation to skills + whether player was subbed. In terms of team also formation has a very big influence on overall rating.

For example Lew Pachel on the weekend played for 85 against top level Italy (rating 82), but today played for only 77 against a normal club (rating 68). According to your theory Pachel should have a lower rating against Italy than against a much weaker club.

I understand (skills, form, formation, orders etc), but you will see TGV rating in next league matches. It won't be 82%.

In my opinion, the 82 rating appeared precisely in these favorable situation, one of which was a much weaker opposing team.

Nope, comparing to league he didnt use weak subs + used stronger starting 11 (weakest def from league spent the Game on bench, used a better player who is injured) + had more favorable minutes/def and off among atts

Ah yes, it was starting today... totally forgot and lost 3-2 because I forgot to set up my team correctly (without trainees).
Well...better luck next week :-p

That's why arcade mode doesn't make sense for this tournament in future. If something in club is arcade, then nobody cares :-P

It seems the algorithm gave an advantage to smaller countries, which is why you’ve ended up in a division that’s too strong for you. Division 2 will be a place mostly for 70+ teams.

it will appear that the first league is populated by about 75% Polish teams...

Well, you can’t ask for both balanced groups and country quotas – the two are mutually exclusive. Still, I don’t think the Poles will be overrepresented beyond their share of players pool.

Unexpected victory against a team 20 years older. Yay!

The top two teams from each group (64 teams in total) will advance. The following six rounds, without return matches, will determine who ultimately lifts the cup

If you're one of the 64 winners, do you know who your opponent will be? I mean, if you're first in group 1, you'll face the second-place finisher in group 2? Or are the opponents drawn at random each round?

Dude, you're getting something for nothing here.

Their sorting mechanism was always going to have flaws, because even the best laid plans (such as what they did here, I think - assigning teams by their placement in their respective leagues last season - will have flaws. There's literally no way I can think of that will make these things balanced. Only seasons of this will allow for this.

I would argue they will never be perfect, simply because teams don't act rationally in management. One day a 78 overall team could decide to sell off and rebuild. One day a team could get a 25 million dollar youth pull and all of a sudden go from 65 to 75 in two weeks. After the divisions were made.

Didi I agree with you on a lot of things, but not this one.

5 lvl structure economy vs 3 lvl or 2 lvl structure on weekly basis it's definitely not fair!.
In arcade mode maybe is fun but only if you sign up as state many times it's fresh blood for big countries ...

Agree with you islander, it's not perfect, but you can see by how they decided to seed teams, that they did actually put some thought into it and did the fairest thing possible

The first season being Arcade was smart, because not only does it give them time to fix bugs that may crop up, but also to allow some of the strength differences to be overcome a little.

The big thing they need to do is make the International Cup have a large role in all financial aspects of the game, because currently it is weighted towards bigger nation = better financially. Second to this is the timezone issues with the market.
As the International Cup will allow all of sokker teams to be compared (fanclub sizes) it makes sense that this has an overwhelming impact on how this is calculated. By having National league part of the calculation, it will still favour bigger nations but at least this will be minimised.

It's a bit like the financial impact of the league expectations being solely on others within that league, which then impacts things like sponsors and crowds. This means that say you have one league II division with an average of $100M, the team on $50M gets an artifical boost. Then in the other league II division with an average of $10M, the $50M team will get an artifical disadvantage. This is the same when comparing between Div 1 of some countries with others. So it's easy to see how this is unfair and should be based on Sokker wide finances.

So whilst I think they have always had the right intentions, the next level of thought hasn't been there. I think with the International Cup, they have taken this next level of thought when it comes to 'seeding' in the most fair way possible, and I commend them on this.

Yes long term, half or more of Division 1 will be Poland, but you can't undo 20yrs of advantage without reseting the game, making one big league, and having side national cups and national youth pulls. So we get what we get, and at least this gives a lot of people who either have noone else to play (smaller nations) or those stuck really not promoting or relegating due to financial imbalace of age of teams they are surrounded by (affects all countries), something else to play this game for. A new challenge.

The best thing to come out of this tournament (as long as they don't screw is up) should be the end of needing to use trainees in the league. This whole thing of intentionally relegating or throwing games in favour of training has to end.

Maybe because we weren't blessed with being handed all kinds of money like you did?

Net transfer balance of 11 million after all of these years.

Yet you can magically afford that team.

I've seen dozens of teams with gross negative balances too.

Must be nice.
2025-12-29 23:07:55
You’re mistaking result with cause, he spent so much because firstly he managed to make that profit on training (so he had money to spend)

Nobody hands you free money, you have to make it on transfer market via smart buys and training.
2025-12-29 23:19:12
Money is most definitely handed out in this game. But to be a top team in Poland Div 1, you need both that and the work on the transfer market just due to the fact there are 2000 teams trying to win that title, and it has likely gone to extremes which those designing the game probably wouldn't have wanted (ie you want people to make smart buys, train up, sell etc, not day-trade).

I wasn't handed any kinds of free money.

My goods:

- understanding of game and training mechanics,
- economy
- selection of talented players.

+ a bit of luck.

That's enough to achieve a team like mine. Almost everybody can do that. Doesn't matter nationality.
