Subject: [DEV] International Cup

1. The domestic league and cup – what’s the point of chasing results there anymore?

1. Real sportman's words! If you can't feel the rivalry .... what's the point?!
Or you're just OP at domestic L/C and you're bored there ...

2. With three official matches from next season, friendly matches should be removed from the calendar and sent to the arcade – the constant reminders are unpleasant, and they will be meaningless.

2 .There'll be four matches while the cup is going on - that means 360 mins in my last message context!
Injury risk is what I'm talking about*

3. Everyone is chasing different goals in the game, but... the owners have their own plans and objectives :) so... adapt... enough whining.

3. This is THE whining topic xD but anyhow you've missed the point here too.

Now, I actually do respect the way you are choosing players but not how you're playing this game ( for 60+ seasons I've trained only players from my youth school, and now I've decided to poke the whales from our 1st league - by training our NT players). But I've never been uninterested about the results - I have bronze from NC and 4th place multiple times in our 1st, Prva liga. In the top leagues btw there is a lower chance to play on the basic grass pitch with 40% condition which is a real danger for the players you train in lower leagues.

I hope that now you understand why is any minute played above 180 unnecessary and risky!

With us, there are hardly any active players who don't have the grass surface at maximum :) this is one of the first things that is built... so it's not a factor for injuries. For me, the competition is about having national team players constantly :) until recently, these were mostly in the U21, but after I adjusted the coaches, I expanded the training to include the men's national team as well. I also mainly train my own youth players... at least for now I consider myself lucky (by my standards) to be producing enough promising ones.

can you bring any idea without taking us (virtual) money? Take us 20 more % for playing 3 home matches in IC!?

They won't take anything, you will play ~25-30% more matches per season, so its no-brainer to reduce match revenue to avoid inflation.

Now you play 11 league matches at home per season.
Next season you will play 11 home matches in league + at average 4 home matches in IC = 15 matches at home.

15 * 0,8 = 12, so you'll get actually more money next season.

Counting national cup makes money income more or less the same.

at average 4 home matches in IC

3.4921875 :P
Expected value of matches played by team in cup phase is 63/64 = 0.984375, but it should only count as half of the match because money is split, so 0.4921875 :P

You have correct number, even you get there from wrong angle :)

63 cup matches will be played by 128 teams (even only 64 will advance in cup).

So basically 63 full incomes will be divided to 128 teams in average on top of 3 home game in group phase

You are the master of numbers here.
In your opinion, will a 20% cut in revenue from official matches reduce overall revenue, increase it, or will we maintain a certain constant on a global scale?
2026-02-04 23:47:09
Impossible to say without the data, because it's not a simple comparison between the number of matches of each type. 20% cut looks reasonable, but I think it wouldn't hurt if the cut was a bit lower.

If there will be any prizes for that cup then it should also count towards thinking about revenue :P But it would need to be big enough to have much impact on calculations (not like current national cup / champions cup rewards :p)

And when you will reduce injuries
2026-02-04 23:59:21
I have no idea what the prizes will be like. I simply suggested paying out money after winning each match in the knockout stage. The higher the round, the higher the prize. We'll see how it turns out.

This is my calculation. Let me know if there's any info I might be missing.

Considering an adjustment of 80%:
> half the users will be receiving a new income of 11.2
> the other half will be in the range of 11.6-13.6

The weighted average would be 11.6 for an adjustment of 80%.
Here there's a table considering different adjustments.

Nice calculations but what are those numbers?
11.2-13.6 of what?
2026-02-05 10:28:17
We are using current Home Matches as reference to compare revenues from League + International Cup. Current number is 11 (League Matches only, because we are still not getting money from IC).

If revenues stay the same (third column in the first table), then:
> Teams that only play in Group Stage get 11+3=14 Home Matches
> Teams that play until Knockout of 64 get 11+3+0.5=14.5 Home Matches
> etc.

If revenues go down to 80% (fourth column in the first table), then:
> Teams that only play in Group Stage get 80%*14=11.2 Home Matches
> Teams that play until Knockout of 64 get 80%*14.5=11.6 Home Matches
> etc.

The weighted average of 11.6 (second table) means that overall revenues would slightly increase next season, but not much.
