this is from center to just outside of box with head, little to strong head :)

Key word(s) is: getting used to it!

; )

Does it mean that the "dribbling keeper situation" is just a sort of "animation" of a previously decided event (i.e, shooting) and not an event in itself?

Now i don't understand.

(probably answer is: no - becouse What You See Is What You Get)

because there is no "real" dribbling, just an "animation"

I never said this. I said "it's for show" because it's unimportant, rare situation.

My question was:

The dribbling of a keeper,

1) is the same dribbling that we see a forward facing a defender (when technique vs. defense is the basic comparison)?

2) Or it is just an animation of a different comparison (scoring + playmaking vs. keeper) and then, after that comparison takes place, then it comes an "animation" showing a dribble?

if the answer is 1, why then, if it is a dribbling like any other else, are we switching the parameters of the dribbling?

#2

- It will now be possible to dribble past the goalkeeper (success depends on player scoring and playmaking and oponents' keeper skill)

No, no, I know that. I am not being clear enough:

This new feature (we seeing forwards dribbling keepers, which depends on the scoring and playmaking of the forward and keepers' skill):

1) It's just a dribble (like the others)

2) or is it a new event (separate from dribbling)?

If 2), I can understand that it uses different parameters, because it is a different event (what I call events are actions: passes, shots, headings, dribbles, etc.).

But if it is not a new event, if is just an existing event (dribbling), which is now extended to a new situation (keeper vs. opponent), why then are we not using the parameters that correspond to this event?

I hope now that I was clearer.

its a new event, dribbling the keeper to create a chance to score is quite different than dribbling a defender to run past him

My feeling from what greg is saying, is that it will not look like a run-by, that the two will meet at the ball like they do now, but with the new skill sometimes the attacker will be able to chip the ball past the keeper as he is attempting to "sweep up" the ball. So it is playmaking to make a quick decision as the keeper 'dives' at your feet, and scoring to put it past the keeper and into the net. I have no way of being sure, but that seems to be what is suggested.

I also think (to be clear: this is total conjecture;), from what I have read earlier about what the dev's were working on, that the positioning is going to be a factor of experience. My guess is that players with more matches and NT caps will play closer to your orders, players with little or no experience will be less 'disciplined' and 'experienced' and will have a tendancy to wander and ruin your well planned traps or get called offsides more often, etc. I am hoping this is true as it will add more value to veteran players and 'even out' the transfer market somewhat. It should also make throwins and penalties more interesting.

The new skill positioning will depend on age...or not?

I saw dribbling in this match, 19 min. Attacker just chips ball over the keeper and after that he run in the goal with the ball =)

:/

Matches played would make more sense than just age, but the devs have suprised me before, like with the unbalanced draws for WC qualifiers.

Again, this is just a guess based on other conversations that have been had about this positioning experiment.

Just saw my friendly. I do NOT like this positioning attribute at all.

It was overriding my designed tactics on several occasions...including on defense which irritated me big time.

Hmm I hope it will be linked only on age and not randomly...

My opinion on striker vs goalkeeper dribble situation is that playmaking certainly shouldn't be factor, how many RL top strikers are good playmakers (very few, just imagine Owen or Shevchenko as midfielders???).

If technique can't be considered (not to make it too important), than just put striking against keeper skill....

@ islander1 - read the press, to test the attribute it is set to maximum effect, it will not be that noticable when it is actually implemented

@Red - number of matches played makes more sense than just age no?

@Hobotshy - it is about the player making a quick decision to shoot as the keeper is charging at his feet, so it has nothing to do with tech, that part is handled by scoring not technique
