Subject: Match Engine Change
I read all this thread.
I guess the positioning experience of the player X is deeply related to the position of this player in the tactical box.
If the player X always plays the same role, if he is set in the same positions in the tactical box match after match, he someway gets used to perform the role and performs it better (it means closer to the tactics you set) every adittional match he plays.
It means that doesn´t matters if the player X is young or old; if he joined the team earlier or later.
What really matters is how long he is playing in the position he is set.
If he is playing for little time in the exact role (in the same positions of the tactical box), he "misses" the position you set very often; if he is playing for a long time, he can follow strictly your orders (every time he plays, he follows more strictly), because he has got the experience in the role.
It would be a great new feature.
It would make Sokker more real. Real players have a prefered role - although they can change the role and get used to the new role.
So this will be in SK, if the changes are this way.

At this point, I would just like to see someone other than Seca win a national title. Nothing personal of course, but 4 straight championships is more than enough. :D
I think its ironic that you posted that as a reply to bball, who has won 5 straight titles in NZ :P
On the topic however, like everyone else (i think) i'm liking all the other changes except positioning, i am still reserved on that.. I was against it because it would take away from the value of tactical 'genius' but as Greg restated that comment about passing i'm now reserved...

So every time you change your tactic all your players will lose their positioning skill.
=> All of us will play with only one tactic...

A lot of managers change their tactics often so I don't think that would be good idea.
That is some oHTer game way of thinking. I don't think we would like that kind of similarity.

True!! ;o
And we want to keep a total control on our Teams...with playemake & tactics box. ;-)

1. The way I hope the engine changes has nothing to do with ht (that game sucks, is boring, I played for 2 years and quit)
2. The way I expect would make Positioning an individual skill, not a group skill - because you can move your players independently.
3. This way would be the closest possible to real-football.

...playemake & tactics are enought...

Real players are not robots, following strictly the orders that the coach tell them.
Playmaking and tactics aren´t enough to give to SK the variability of moving and placement we find in real football.
Just remember that even national teams suffer sometimes due to the defender's position in a bad attempt of making an offside tactic...

re the experience with the same order in the same tactic....
I don't like that, you should be able to change the tactic. I would like to see a player get experience playing for the same team... Experience understanding the coach etc should improve their ability to maximize their positiioning skill.

If the changes go the way I guess, it´s not exactly true.
If you move your player just a little then he would not have great positioning problems...
And, for instance, if you change all the team orders except your left striker's - then your left striker would still have the positioning experience he already had.
If I´m right, the positioning experience wouldn´t depend on the team tactic, but only on the specific player positioning and orders.
You could change your tactic, and yet have some players with maximum positioning experience, if some players didn´t have their positionings changed.

I'm sorry
you could tell everything....I can feel this positionning skill is a too bad idea......this is my point of view.
And if you already read all this topic, I think you can understand why.....
cheers.

As I pointed out to before, that sounds OK and realistic, but it must be carefully considered with regard to NT games too (!).
Since "positioning" would be an individual skill, and a player may not have two different positioning levels (one for his team and one for his NT), a player that is transferred from one team to the other would have his "positioning" reset, and his performance in the NT would be affected too (even though he will be playing, in his NT, in the same position and with the same tactic that he was playing before).
So, I think that it would be better a combination between matches played overall and matches played for the current team (so, well experienced players will be just "partially" affected by transferring from one team to the other, which is also realistic, because the more experienced a player is, the better he can adjust to different schemes).
