Subject: Match Engine Change

"I would like to see a player get experience playing for the same team... Experience understanding the coach etc should improve their ability to maximize their positioning skill."

As I pointed out to before, that sounds OK and realistic, but it must be carefully considered with regard to NT games too (!).

Since "positioning" would be an individual skill, and a player may not have two different positioning levels (one for his team and one for his NT), a player that is transferred from one team to the other would have his "positioning" reset, and his performance in the NT would be affected too (even though he will be playing, in his NT, in the same position and with the same tactic that he was playing before).

So, I think that it would be better a combination between matches played overall and matches played for the current team (so, well experienced players will be just "partially" affected by transferring from one team to the other, which is also realistic, because the more experienced a player is, the better he can adjust to different schemes).

Maybe not reset, but hm...2 lvl down? And NT games should give about 1.5 - 2 times more exp then normal ones. At least a real good side of having an NT player.

the 'positioning' tactic should be brought in as totally separate function to the tactics editor of the game..

in addtion it should only be used in all 'dead ball' situations eg free kicks, goal kicks, corner kicks and even throw ins.

If for example if you were awarded a corner kick, you would then be able to set your players in the different positions around the penalty box for that situation, so if you wanted to bring your goal keeper up for the corner kick then use the new position tactic to do it.

Another example is free kicks, if you are defending, you decide how many players you want to come back and defend through the 'positioning' tactic. So if you wanted to have a 5 man wall and all players behind the ball then utilise the 'positioning' tactic.

and I can go on and on..

What I am also trying to say is the leave the current 'tactics' editor alone and introduce another just for 'positioning' of the players.

I finally had a chance to have a look at the new changes in last weeks friendly and, apart from the result, it was atrocious. At one point I had my CD take goal kicks, another CD standing directly in front of the keeper when the other team had shots, and another occasion had 2 men in the wall which left players unmarked in the box.

...just my 2 bobs worth anyway...

All players had tragic positioning maybe that's why.

Imo, there should be 2 parts of tactics - one about game, second about free kicks, corners etc.

yep, totally agree with you

One about freekicks, corner, etc...only
we needn't one about game because we already got tactics box!^^

So, ¿Any changes for today? ¿will "positioning" today be based on the new "tactical discipline"?
2006-11-08 15:07:14
yes sire :p i think they r going to test teamwork today ;)

seems nice, a new touch, congratz to the devs, they have been working hard since the downtime (new server, match engine) and now a new skill, I can't wait to see the game

None news form creators about this new skill that has misteriously appeared?

Anyway, I though that "tactical discipline" was something it was taught in the youth schools, and every player should have at least a quite solid value in order to debut in a profesional team. Is it really neccesary this skill? What does it pretend to simulate? I'd askl the creators, admins or whoever: please, explain us a bit about what the point is with the adding this new "skill", before asking us for ideas and suggestions about it. Thanks.

I guess the real idea is to force you to put your players in a friendly before using them in official matches... this way you couldn't buy a player on sunday morning an put him on sunday night to play the league match.

yes u r for a part right, but positioning u also improve in ur first team, positioning=exp. ;)
