Subject: Match Engine Change

No, it won't be fine. This tactical discipline does nothing but make tactical managers disadvantaged...and those who are better GMs but worse coaches have the game stacked in their favor.

Developing tactics for opponents is much of the draw I have to this game. Now, it's pretty wrecked.

I hope my goalie, with hopeless tactics, remembers to stand in front of the net tonight, LOL.

I like your telepathy, I wish I knew how it worked already
2006-11-08 16:51:30
I saw how it worked last week.

You want to see how it works? Watch your match tonight. Or last week, for that matter.

It's obvious, really.

I don't think it's going to be that bad, the news say that it grows faster in lower levels, and also it tends to your coach general skill. they also say that in a couple of weeks the players teamwork will be close to your coach skill, so the tactical discipline would be higher too.

Uow! Look at the goal in minute 36 of this match:

Untouchable

I am not sure that you are right about the fact it advantage loosy tactician.

If you have a team with a loosy tactic and players who do not even follow it perfectly , well there will still be a big difference against team with a good tactic not perfectly followed.

Islander... I share some of your concerns, but don't overreact... Last week we so a first test (just a test) and with positioning in its lowest possible level.

Today, I have been watching some matches in Australia and things look better.

So: don't overreact.

A team with lousy tactics can have them compensated for by this new skill - even if its on accident.

The variable is random. This randomness takes away the certainty that good tactics provide.

I wouldn't care if Greg promised me unearthly tactical discipline for every game. I conceptually and philosophically don't agree with this skill/variable at all. It detracts from sokker's second strongest aspect - signifigantly.

That's what I said a week ago.

at the very best this is going to give an unfair advantage to teams that have been in existance longer. Why? Because the rumor is that general coach skill will affect it.

So poor teams like mine, who just finished their first season and have a coach who trains only two skills at unearthly (thus a low coaching general skill) will be greatly disadvantaged.
2006-11-08 17:01:29
but its affecting your leaguemates too, the diference is not gonna be so high...

Besides, it closer to reality this way... now, you can score a goal beacuse the opponent played the offside trap and one of them forgot to go up on time... etc.

It was already closer to reality - FORM was doing this.

If you want to replace it with tactical discipline, fine. six in one hand, half dozen in the other.

Now, we have two attributes doing the same damn thing.

My gripe is why they thought this was going to 'improve' the game to begin with.

As you all see, I'm not the only one who dislikes this.

general skill coach is going to make it grow faster/lower... experience dependes on the amount of games your player has and team work depends on how many game he has played in your team, on the selected position.
2006-11-08 17:04:06
so again, it gimps newer teams.

Why shouldn't I be able to beat an A league team if they are an idiot tactically?

It was possible until last week.

We'll see if I'm over-reacting. I hope I am, but I'm doubtful.

form didn't make an offside trap to fail, it just reduces the players abilities. this new one provides more reality because its not logic that you buy a player now and put him on your 11 tonight and he plays on his top level. now, he has to adapt to the team, learn to move on the field according to the new tactic, etc, etc.
