we're all doubtful, but you're making way too much of it...
If you just got your team, is dificult that you beat an A league team, because they hace played together longer, this is how it works in real life... if you wait a couple of weeks, your team members will know each other better and you could beat anyone if your tactic is better enough.

But look:
1) It's the same for all, you have to deal with it, but also your opponents, so it's not that bad.
2) Your tactical ability is still as valuable as before. You have to deal with a new "obstacle", but your opponents too, so you still have your chance to do it better.
3) It's not a purely random variable. If positioning (now, tactical discipline) depends on experience and "teamwork" (which, apparently, will depend on the games of a player in his team), then you will still have the chance of opting for younger ( maybe more talented) teams or "older" (more disciplined) teams.
Again: I share your concerns, but I also admit that, in RL, there is no team in the world with 11 robots, and you see veeeery often players (even very experienced players) making stupid tactical mistakes. That, for me, means: As long as positioning (or whatever final name they pick) is not exaggerated, I accept it.
For the reasons I said before, I think that they are working on a "tactical discipline" that will have a limited, reasonable impact in my tactics, and that I will be able to (indirectly) control (by picking the players with more/less experience and or tactical experience).
We still don't know how exactly "teamwork" will be estimated, so let's no jump into conclusions.
I am not saying that I am sure everything is Ok, I am just saying that it's not that bad so far and that we still need to know more things to make a definitive assessment.

The variable is random. This randomness takes away the certainty that good tactics provide
Of course, because the same thing happens on real soccer.
If this tactical discipline is well improved, we will suppose to watch more realistic matches; this is a variable the game could not avoid any longer. Where have you seen a 4 defenders backline, which moves in a pure straigth order line??? It happens only in sokker! Of course it is stupid, as much stupid as players running forward straigth, like horses... do you remember that? It happened in sokker for long time, until developers changed it. Rigth now, with posotioning, is the same thing: it makes the game more realistic, so, the point in here is not getting desperate, sooner or later it is going to work properly. Just give the thing the time it needs. Dont see this like "I´m theone who is going to loose more that others", thats not the way to look at this. Be patient, and trust in developers, wait to see more friendly matches, not in "worst positional level", like it was the last one, wait before having the wrong impresion...
bye and luck!

exactly, oftenly we see players in real life who really screw tactics up, they leave their position unguarded or simply forget to get out of their area after a corner..., it adds some extra concern when choosing you 11 starting players.
Now, we have two attributes doing the same damn thing.
They are not the same thing. Form is how a player is doing that day. Things affecting form may be a cold, a hangover, or maybe een doing everything they can to be ready.
Tactical discipline would be their knowledge of the game overall, not when they feel sick.
(just my opinion, we have yet to see how the skill will fluctuate)

It's a pity that your coach his skill influences it. My new coach has only 4 unearthly and one magical skill and therefore he's only a formidable coach, so I need another coach:(
But who said that the "teamwork" component of the "tactical discipline" will be affected by coaches level? Is there something "official" or just a guessing that everybody is giving for a fact?
Ok, there is an official announcement now (it wasn't there half an hour ago :P).
Well... that's something I am not entirely sure about... That is a strong limitation for small teams who cannot afford a coach with a high general level.
