Has someone already had the chance to see a striker dribbling (or trying to dribble) a keeper?
2006-11-01 17:08:18
I like all these ideas apart from Positioning. Tactically it's a strength of mine and i dont want it interfered with by the game.
2006-11-01 17:09:27
yes of course...a lateral running dribbling :)

This is also a problem: dribbling has always depended (in this game) on technique. Why will it depend on playmaking for dribbling keepers?

Besides, that introduces more and more limitations (instead of options): It's already difficult to have a good striker (you need pace, scoring, technique in high levels). Now, you will need to add a new skill (positioning) plus a new high skill (playmaking) :((((

Change to news post:

- It will now be possible to dribble past the goalkeeper (success depends on player technique and keeper skill).

is changed to
- It will now be possible to dribble past the goalkeeper (success depends on player scoring and playmaking and oponents' keeper skill).

Change will affect next week test games.

indeed :]
This is for limiting importance of one-skill or two-skill players and for making universal players more important :))))

This ignoring technique when dribbling past keepers brings this game to level before last changes of match engine, when technique was irrelevant to strikers.
I don't understand why technique is not impotrant in this case!

me neither... but we're not the one who're developping this game, are we ;-)

But if there's one skill you need to get past someone, it's technique. So why is it not the same with GK's??
2006-11-01 17:21:27
Technique was neer irrelevant to strikers, and this change just made it irrelevant in this one case of dribbling past the GK.

Trust me, i am painfully aware of how vital tech is to strikers.

How is this new positioning skill meant?

1. The players follow exakt my given positions if they have good pos.-skill?
NO GOOD, because why should they follow my "stupid" taktik. Effekt Only random.

2. Or do they act more "intelligent"?
E.g. Ballpossession: players try to "stay alone/free" to have more time...
and Enemy-Ballpossession: they try to get closer to the enemy players.

I would like this.

But who is speaking of one or two skill???

A good striker, today, needs at least 3 strong skills (scoring, technique, pace) plus one or two good secondary skills (condition -always-; playmaking, passes, depending where you place them).

But now are we talking about 4 main skills???

I favor multi-skills playes, but I do not favor "all-but-one-or-two-skills players".

Everybody needs condition. Defenders need defense, but also pace, playmaking (to think better what to do with the ball), and technique (interception control). And if you like them to contribute something to the offense, passes.

Miedfielders need EVERYTHING, except from scoring (unless you have offensive midfielders playing at the end of the play almost like forwards).

Now, strikers need also 4 main skills... it seams that there is no differentiation... that's not realistic.

Every player needs Every skil, but in different
weightings.
Thats o.k.

Would positioning IF at a high level mean players purposely move away from the position you have set them, to find space, and/or cover for another player who's been dragged out of position.

I ask because on a few occasions, there have been huge gaps up front and you think why not move there, but more annoyingly when a player have been dragged out of positoion, and your opponenet is allowed to run into free space and score is annoying
