Subject: Match Engine Change

I think the bigger improvement hasn`t been talked yet.

I think the rule that the player nearest the opponent player should go after him and the other players who could reah that player better, stay in the same position, is a crap.

That would be a great improvement...

It seems like most of us have the some questions. 1)Whether or not positioning will be a trainable skill and 2)what will be the starting level of disciple for ur players!!! For example if I'm training a 18 years old so that next season will be ready in order to sell him and he gets a "tragic posoitioning" that will be a disaster!!! I will have to keep him in my team and train him for over a half of the next season------>> great loss of ca$h!!!

- It will now be possible to dribble past the goalkeeper (success depends on player scoring and playmaking and oponents' keeper skill)
- More clever shots when one on one with the keeper (for example, placing the ball using less power).

As a keeper trainer I really hope this 2 are properly balanced not to nerf goalkeepers even more.

I think it is good for keeper trainers, because keepers with higher pace and keeping will become more valuable.

Headers seem to go stupidly far every time, and too fast, other than that the changes look potentially quite good.

I agree.
the short headers are pretty useless.
nearly always directly to the opponent

Will the freekick wall be beneficial? It makes me think there will be lots of unmarked players in deadball situations.

depending how positioning skill the goalkeeper has or not?

I hope a keeper automatically understands to stay in goal (at least if you didn't set his order to FGK (flying goalkeeper)).

i didn't all, so i dont know if its already said :s

i read maybe it isn't trainnable!

so if it isn't trainnable it should be a kind of hidden talent==> would give plus user "more" advantage

Remember now that everything what you read from forum's are quessing, those aren't in fact information.

Next fact's will become when new news are posted.

Positioning should work in the following manner....

Defenders with high positioning skill will mark players even when they are away from the ball, rather than just standing in their tactical spot. They will also be more adept at cutting off through passes.

Defenders with poor skill will play like they do now, in a spot rather than playing a man. They will also be slightly away from where they should be according to your tactic.

Mids with high positioning should look to dribble into space to set up their pass, rather than heading straight towards the goal. Away from the ball they will move into space in order to be open for a pass, without leaving the general area of their spot in the tactic. On defense they will also mark players when away from the ball if someone's close to their assigned tactical spot.

Mids with poor positioning skill won't do those things and will play right where you've told them, with occasional lapses where they are caught slightly away from their assigned spot.

Strikers with high positioning skill will actually work into an open area to set up an incoming pass, rather than standing in their assigned spot.

Strikers with poor positioning would stand still, in their assigned spot, while sometimes getting 'lost' and being slightly away from their spot.

Positioning should either be an 'experience' skill in that it starts low and increases based upon the players underlying talent level, or a trianable skill that is trained like pace, with everyone who plays a match that week being trained.

To begin with, all existing players should recieve their positioning skill based on either the number of matches they've played, or an overall average of their existing skills.

My opinions at least, until someone puts forth another opinion that changes them.

I totally agree! :D

As I see it "positioning" should be an enhancement, understanding it as a player with higher positioning look for better positions to play better. This way, a player with tragic positioning should follow strictly the tactic orders, while another with higher positioning would tend to make a beter and wiser play.

I hope that "positioning" is not equivalent to "randomness", so a player with low positioning moved to everywere he wanted, ruining tactics, orders and common sense. If this were so, positioning would be a big drawback, and this new "skill" should be better called "stupidity", if a player were allowed to make what he wanted against basic team things as maintaining the line for offsides, cover his assigned spot in the corners, etc. I RL a player who does not follow these basics of play I doubt he would ever play as a professional player.

All the othes changes seem OK for me (though let's wait to see how well they work in the long term), but seriously, if positioning should mean randomness, I think it would be a very, very bad thing and a worsening to the game. It would add nothing, but would ruin and would make luck more decisive in the outcomes. I think this is a concern shared by more users, and I hope the creators tell soon something about how "positioning" is really intended to work.

This is now great chance to add experience in the sokker, IF positioning isn't trainable skill and it would be better when player plays more games...

head pass

look at min 2, that head pass is little too unrealistic?

But then, would it be an "absolute" experience (namely, games played by the player in his career) or a "relative" experience (games played by the game in his current team)?

Could it be a combination (a player who is transferred to a different team would lose only a part of his "positioning", not all of it; so players very experienced would not be really affected by changing clubs)?

Assuming is not "absolute", how would it impact the NTs? Because if you make this positioning-experience depending on the games a player plays for a club, as soon as he is transferred, his performance would be affected not only in his new team but also in the NT (the positioning skill is individual, and a player would not have a positioning skill for his team and a different on for the NT team). It would not make sense that the the player suddenly plays with less positioning in his NT when he is doing the same he has been doing in his last NT matches...
