I would disagree, I think the pace rating could go higher, as much as 12%

But then it's all relative to the level of keeping also.

Very difficult to have just one 'weightings' per position. Unless you just create a deafult weighting and let it be fully user adjustable?
2007-03-08 01:02:21
Yes this will just be default and the users can indeed adjust.

i think you forgot about midfield (offensive)... the "classic 10" =)

a guy with pm and passing as 1st skills...

i'm doing the lineup tool.

ohhh, you succumbed to the dark side? [:O]
2007-03-08 16:14:28
Winger isn't midfield offensive? I have some extra pace on winger you woudln't want for an offensive winger i guess?

ohhh, you succumbed to the dark side? [:O]

Yeah, i finally ran out of other things i wanted to improve more. Plus i had determined a way to do it that i thought added to the tool as opposed to being a crutch to make managers weaker by not understanding.

Winger needs more pace and passing, since "technically" what they do is to get the ball, run forward, and try to center to the area.

Off. Mid needs more PM, in order to be able to play passes quickly, and technique, in order to attemp to leave deffensive mids behind :)

My guess is for something like:
sta: 10
def: 5
pm: 25
sco: 10
pace: 10
tech: 15
pass: 25

any other thoughts??

Mr_gibbage gave me the suggestion to take stamina and just use it as a multiplier across the board.

I was considering that, same with form. It would simplify things a bit (for the user, doesn't matter to me)

Prob is, it wouldn't give you the opportunity to have the multiplier be varied based on position (stamina is pretty irrelevant for GK i guess. Or for defensive defender (sweeper) and striker (poaching forward) that don't run as much versus mid-o....

Your thoughts? I do want to make this as easy as possible, but i don't want people to chafe at a functionality limitation either.

Added jeetn as belgian translator, will send to each of the others as soon as we see how it works with the first guinea-pig, arnauduran.

I looked at the Position multiplier and have the following comments:

1) Strikers are affected by form more than any other players.

2) We all know what stamina does, I don't assign a value to stamina and assume formidable. Then you can redistribute those percentages on the primary sills.

For example: Pace is high for strikers but the skill "Striker" (Shooting) should have more weight than "Pace".
2007-03-08 22:31:04
so you want me to tweak down pace a bit for strikers and up form and possibly striking for them?
2007-03-08 22:51:04
I like the idea of having form only as a multiplier and not as part of the skill distribution. I would also like to see the option to totally ignore form. Same thing for stamina. I do not think it is that big of a deal, especially for more established clubs that will likely have high stamina on most players anyways.

Anyways, this is what I would probably set my weights to. Assuming that form and stamina are not factors.

Keepers: I generally like your distribution. I think pace is very important to the keeper. I might take a little off passing and put back on keeping though.
pace: 25
passing: 10
keeping: 65

Central Defenders:
technique: 10
passing: 10
playmaking: 10
defending: 50
pace: 20

Wing Defense:
technique: 5
passing: 10
playmaking: 10
defending: 40
pace: 35

Def Midders:
defense: 20
playmaking: 20
passing: 25
pace: 20
technique: 15

Central midder:
Defense: 15
playmaking: 20
passing: 20
pace: 20
technique: 25 (oh yes I am a technique whore)

Winger:
passing: 30
playmaking: 20
technique: 10
pace: 30
defense: 10

Striking: I really like your thinking on strikers. I would possibly even put striking less than pace on technique. But it all really depends on what scale of skills you are talking about. Once a striker gets outstanding or incredible striking, I would much rather have higher levels in pace and technique.
pace: 30
techinque: 30
striking: 25
playmaking: 5
defense: 10

Hey everyone, thanks for a lot of input.

I'm doing my best to taking everyone's points into account.

Here's a new version:
Sokker Manager Position Multiplier Defaults

I added positions for Striker (moe offensive forward), Sweeper, and Offensive Mid. Renamed Defensive mid to Central Defender... And tweaked a bunch of the default values.

I'm still struggling with the thought of removing stam and form.

The problem with using a multiplier is it does vary based on position. Stam for keepers is irrelevant, and for a striker or sweeper much less important than center mid... Similarly form for strikers like Lakay pointed out. So it's still there for now. I also don't want to do Stam and form multipliers by order (ie group for all defensive positions as one multiplier and then midfields as another etc) as that just makes it more complex imho...

Please feel free to comment further. Appreciate the feedback...
