Who says he's a def? It's a defmid imo, and then he's trained right.
This one's my most promising player atm. Talent is good but not superb (last pace pops from very good to outstanding in 4-4-5 weeks). I guess he has fair chances anyway for u21 and maybe A-squad someday..

I'm currently training technique and have been for quite a while.
Problem is that it pops fairly slow at high ages. Think he is trained fine, I train midifelders really, he just happened to have a lot of pace & defender to start.
Edit: Player above is likely to reach the fringes of the squad, maybe get a few games if in form.

well sure. especially if they play a few U20 games, but next season is U21 WC i believe, so its unlikely for a while anyway.
then again if they get knocked out, maybe focus will be on the "next generation" so they will use younger stars
