Training
The distribution of individual skills is set for each junior when he comes to your junior team; each individual skill grows proportionally with the overall skill when your junior trains each week. Their talent and the coaches general efficiency determine how fast they develop and whether they will be valuable players after leaving the school. Whether a junior plays or not in a match does not affect his training - he always will get full training.

I have a good examples from my own case:

So his SS is 35 so that means that he is indeed a 10 (but most likely 11) junior. His starting skill was 3, so that should mean that his SS was around 10. If we do a simple math, 7 pop ups * 3.3 = 23. Divide it with 7 skills (without GK), that should mean that every skill should be at least 3?
Or lets look at this way: stamina+gk+passing+pm=8. So lets say that all those skill were 0 and they popped.
23-8=15, means that other four skills popped almost 4 times? That is not proportional grow if you ask me.
Then imagine a player who appeard as a 7 and left the YS as a 16 junior after 30 weeks. He had a pm skill 1 and popped 9 time in YS. The same applies to other skills except GK which is different than other skills. If the "proportional grow" was real, his pm would be atleast 3/4. Right?

My opinion is that stamina deserves to be a full fledged skill, all the way up to superdivine and in the same pace as passing f.e.
But they should also increase the effect of execution of all other skills when players have high stamina!
And make stamina a strength related skill! The more stamina, the more powerfull a player is in duels, in the air, shot and passing power etc...
As for GK...they deserve a separate skill sheet with different skills.
Imo this is how a GK should look like...
stamina - pace
handling - reflexes
positioning - passing
As for field players...
stamina - positioning
pace - defender
technique - passing
set pieces - scoring
The positioning skill should replace the playmaker skill, cause it makes no sence that playmaking is a midfielder only skill
Positioning should be a skill that gives the player the affinity to ''know'' his place within the tactic and position himself in the best possible place according to the match situation. The positioning, passing, scoring and defender skill should all contribute to the effect of the current playmaker skill. But the limitations on all right column skills is ridiculous and doesn't contribute to the game in any way.

I don't think we need more skills. Positioning is done by experience in defenders, maybe it could be extended to other positions
Imo exp is very undervalued in this game! It has too little influence on the game.
Judging by how 'well' all the changes are turning out I doubt that changing the whole game engine is a good idea
TBH with such change and other proposed it would turn out to be a completely different game
Also by adding set pieces in place of playmaker you suddenly change the whole player dynamic. It'd be a skill needed by 1 player in team, it would be totally ignored by trainers, while not having to train playmaker (and what exactly would be responsible for playmaker in match engine? it's a crucial skill impacting how players react, how and where they pass etc.)
Positioning as explained already is in the game...and it would be another ignored skill not worth of training
Especially since at some positions LACK of proper positioning is actually a good thing...
Not to mention the fact that making such changes would f... up all the already existing players

The ME does that job very well right now.
You have triple superdivine strikers with divine tactical discipline in unearthly form and yet they play games against much weaker defenders, losing 90% of the direct duels, shooting 70% outside the goal and getting last in a sprint.
This game as it is now is imo in need of a greater upgrade, cause right now it's having the most dificult time, not to drown in it's own bugsystem.
I have 0% problems with a game that change things to improve it's game experience. Right now, it's getting boring.
If things stay the way they are, I think it's amount of managers will keep on decreasing untill it has shrunk down to a single country game...
The ME does that job very well right now.

I don't see adding "positioning" or "set pieces" to skills list as improving the game experience or solving any problem this game has
the match engine does need changes, sure (doubt they will come though)
at the same time, it's the best there is in online browser gaming and it's FAR better than any that I've seen

it won't happen but I'm curious how you'd solve it

and instead all of them get magical-superdivine set pieces?
you add a new skill positioning and then what happens with all trained players, they get tragic/very good positioning and are f... because they are already past training age?
when you propose something you must remember that it's a game that is already live and working, with players at different stages of career, it's not creating a new game out from scratch
