Thank god someone see's what i see. you could argue that every skill is a primary but in simple terms the rightside is the primary and leftside secondary. its a whole different story if we are looking at a position.
Passing is a primary for a mid but not a primary in its self. if i was a scout the primary attribute i would look for a goalkeeper is goalkeeping. then i would look for pace etc..... if i was looking for a defender, i wook look for a great tackler then pace etc... if i was looking for a mid i would look for a playmaker not a PASSER then i would look for passing etc... for a striker i would look for a finisher i.e striking. that is the best way i can explain it.

thats a terrible thing to say.
i think.. primary are different for every player...
i consider tech to be a necessity for every player except keeper - is it a primary..?
pace necessary all over also, even for keeper.

the only primary skill "in general" (means for all players) is pace.
tech is fairly unimportant for every players except wing and att.

That is just wrong.
How many players with tech less than 4(weak) would you field?
Primaries: passing, playmaking, defending, goalkeeping, scoring
Enablers: pace, technique, stamina
The importance of the enablers vary from position to position, but their common denominator is that they are needed for the players to use their other skills.

i field a lot of players with tech less than weak :P
although now that i think about it.. not many actually..
it would be interesting to see, if you summed up you first XI. skills, what would be the highest total...
for me its pace, then stamina, then technique i think
then defender (defender trainer)
next passing maybe/PM is close.
striker is last because i only have a few players with high striker.. (2 strikers) and also an offensive mid

read his question again.
"not for any position just in general."
So you want to tell me that striker is a main skill in general for all positions? stop kidding.
"How many players with tech less than 4(weak) would you field?"
no one. but that doesn't make tech a main skill, because comparing to that each skill would be a main skill.

no no no you mis-understand me. what do you see when you look at the rightside? say them over in your mind :) they are the primary skills. goalkeeping, tackling, playmaker, striking. stamina can be a secondary for gk,def, mid, att i.e all the righside. pace can be a secondary for gk,def, mid, att again rightside. tech can be a secondary for def, mid, att. passing can be a secondary for gk,def, mid, att. in simple terms the rightside are the primary skills for any player on the pitch. the left side are the secondaries for any player on the pitch. i gurantee thats why they are seperated like that i.e why tech isnt on the rightside and playmaking on the left.
take a winger - what are the important skills?
pace/tech/passing
pm a bit less
pace/tech/passing
pm a bit less
My response had two parts. One where I consider you statement wrong:
tech is fairly unimportant for every players except wing and att.
Basically you are saying tech is unimportant for players that aren't wingers or attackers. I consider this wrong. Tech is very important, but that doesn't mean you want as high tech as possible, but enough to enable your primary skills.
My second part points out my take on the question of primary skills. I consider tech to be the primary for no one. It's an enabler that enables the player to use his primary skills i.e. skills that let him do the job of his position, be it defending without losing the ball, catching the ball in order to pass it again (mids), passing a player, catching the ball in order to score a goal (attackers) or passing a player in order to make a successful cross (wingers).
I'm sure you understand what I'm saying, I merely disagree that tech is a primary for wingers or attack as well as disagree that it's fairly unimportant for the rest of the players. Only for goalkeepers, which is self explanatory, is tech unimportant. In which case it's entirely unimportant.

your forgetting stamina and striking! also i like a bit of defending on my wingers :p anyway you lot are taking this way out of proportion!
I'm just saying that primary skill means important skill for the player
whereas you say primary skill means skill listed on the right - your nonsense/trolling is amusing and responding keeps me busy at a boring time

"in simple terms the rightside are the primary skills for any player on the pitch. the left side are the secondaries for any player on the pitch."
now we are talking about positions? that's far too simple in that way, that's ht-like what you say. in fact you have for each position at least two primary skills and for each position is at least one of the primary skills on the left side, in most cases pace.
"Basically you are saying tech is unimportant for players that aren't wingers or attackers. I consider this wrong. Tech is very important, but that doesn't mean you want as high tech as possible, but enough to enable your primary skills."
I'm pretty sure that tech is not very important. :) you need enough tech that your players are able to control the ball after passes in most cases, and therefore ~solid - very good is enough. It might depend on your team strength - if you have a new team tech might be important as it can be very difficult with very low tech but in higher leagues tech becomes more and more unimportant compared with other skills imho.
@ robfol: afaik € and $ are the same here. :)
