I'm not sure what is best to build behind the goals anymore. As you can see in this topic [BUG] dumb audience (ticket prices) something strange is going on (tickets for Benches behind the goals can be sold more expansive as Seats on the sideline) :P So I would say Benches behind the goals and in the corners is still the best thing to do as long as you don't build a roof over these Benches.
The difference is that some supporters want to buy tickets for Benches and if they are sold out they will buy tickets for Seats. Other supporters only want to buy tickets for Seats. You can find some info about this also in that topic that I posted (page 1), for example the % of supporters that want to buy these tickets.
And the best is only to build a roof over Seats. So I would say, build Seats on the sidelines and roof those Seats.

So its not worth building benches behind goals anymore?
bug or not there are what i call 'hardcoregroups' of supporters with their own preference in place and they're willing to pay the price for that, even if it's more expensive than the 'better, more expensive' places.
so the question might depend on some other question, one which can not be answered easily: what are the ratios between those different groups of supporters and the limits of what they are prepared to swallow in price fluctuations to meet their preference?
unfortunately it can't be answered without rearranging a stadium constantly so you can only adjust the price to set it according to what you have build allready (which has a ratio as well).
i might consider setting my terraces higher than my benches and my seats eventually ... both terraces and benches were sold out again while my benches are already more expensive than my seats (which i have most).
