Your question was: How important is "playmaker" on DEFs? The answer is: It is the most important side skill (for most managers)


And about that 100% training on more positions, this is only the case with just a few skill trainings, but even then you still have to make choices which position and which skill to train. Besides, being able to train 100% doesn't mean it's therefore a primary skill. There is nothing in the rules telling you '100% training = primary skill'.


And ask the DEVs if you want to know why they have chosen this skill-position-training %

can you make two subs in the same position during a game?
I know you only have 3 total.. but i wanted to make sure i could use two to divide the play up on one position with 3 players.. hence two subs in the same position.. is this possible.. or is the first sub going to stay in for the rest of the game..

Sorry, I meant to say side skill. Your theory is that it makes sense that a Def cannot get a 100% of playmaking training because it is not their main skill. But how do you explain that ATT and MID get a 100% of defense training when this is a side skill for them as well. It is clear that the fact that it is a side skill does not mean that it is trained less effectively. I think the reason is to make MID training more interesting and prevent people to train only DEF and ATT players. But if, as you said, playmaking is the most important side skill for DEF and ATT you shouldn't be forced to change positions in order to get 100% training. I know your answer, though: ask a dev. Lol

Maybe it's done because DEF position is easier to train as other positions and with 100% defender training for MID and ATT this skill becomes less valuable, but I'm not sure. So indeed, if you ask me the question why it's done this way and you want to know for sure, the only answer I can give you is to ask those who made this game :)

side note - imo playmaker and technique are equally important for defenders, while passing...meh, not so much

additionally:

a. central defender: pace/def - technique - playmaker - passing
b. side defender: pace/def - playmaker - technique - passing

I would say it is also a matter of numbers, and that passing are underrated... if tech is 10 for side defender, it is fine, and more both pm and passing is better.... but yes for central def, i would say passing is very much less important..... but i have seen many examples of defs trying to short pass and making mistakes, back when i had no particular secondary on def´s, and this was because passing was below 8... so i agree on what you just posted, but i will say that they need to be rounded (not have one of the secondary way too low)

the backpasses are because of low playmaker

playmaker = decision what to do with ball, where to pass
passing = quality of the pass

i wasnt talking about backpasses, i was talking about trying to play it short but missing target, and instead opposite striker gets the ball
