I think it's too late. We didn't need good luck - just not crazy bad luck all the time. Those two ridiculous results have pretty much knocked Canada out of the World Cup. Even a win against Lithuania likely will not be enough.

Portugal, Mexico, New Zealand, Uruguay, Sweden, Slovenia look like the favourites to go through. Peru and Venezuala next best chance. Canada and Wales longer shots. Belarus real long shot.

It's not you. Take a look at todays Belgium game. The Ukranian keeper must have some sort of mutated spider who wove a web in his goal.

Blame the seedings for that. The teams who are top of that league table had newbie countries as 4th seeds in their groups.

Heehee. I know what you are getting at, but it's a pretty loose comparison. Belgium scored 11 goals on 46 shots (almost 25%) with "formidable" shooting. Canada scored 1 goal of 15 shots (6.7%) with "formidable" shooting.

Then there's BiH with 2 of 4 (50%) with "adequate" against the best keeper of the bunch. :D (Not to mention Austria's 2 of 2 with "good"). I'd be very curious to hear what striking Janović, the midfielder who scored the 25 yarder, has.

Sometimes it happens that teams get very unlucky.

It would be boring if you knew every time an solid striker shoots against a divine keeper he will miss, and that every time a magical striker shoots against a formidable keeper he will score.

There is a random factor, and in this case it appears it screwed you over big time!

Hmmmm. I don't think you looked at my table. There's no way Canada will be the best 3rd. It's in a precarious position now, and has the second toughest schedule (New Zealand's is worse IMO). Really it's only chance is BiH taking points off Austria.

I appreciate what you are saying. Forgetting NTs for the moment, with the maturity of Sokker it's important to have a random element, otherwise newer teams will never have a chance against established ones.

Having a match like this one every once in a while is good - keeps things interesting. But this is the 2nd time in 8 qualifying matches that the match has been completely one-sided and a terrible, terrible beat was dished out. It seems too random to me.

The seeding isn't great. I complained about it a long time ago, but have come to accept the situation. But it's not really the issue here - Canada should certainly have qualified given it's group.

I apologize for the complaining. I try to be a good loser. I've gone through some very traumatic RL events recently, and have had the feeling the world is against me. I'd hoped Sokker would provide some escapism. But it seems persecution is following me wherever I go.
