Subject: WC Qualifications

2008-01-26 17:54:19
Uruguay - Indonesia: 3-0

kept it to 0-0 till half time
then they scored a silly goal (or great, depends on how you look at it)

81th minute: 2-0

90th minute: slow keeper (well doh, he is 18yo) and 3-1

Indonesia ends the group with 13 points and takes 4th spot as expected.
GD of -18 (18-36) is not that bad in group with France, Chile and Uruguay. Never conceded more than 7 goals a game, so another happy me :p
And we scored against France, which makes this a well deserved WCQ campain for me :)

Thought the game turned significantly when your defender got injured though. I mean, Uruguay were dominating but weren't really breaking the line as much as afterwards. Could be stamina related also ;). Was a pretty decent effort.

Indonesia's got some decent young players and a reasonable user base. Looks like a team on the rise. :)

2008-01-26 18:05:15
Its a case of who can score the most now. First up to bat are Venezuela who need 11 goals
2008-01-26 18:11:40
at 2nd time venezuela 2-0 hong kong
2008-01-26 18:18:53
78 min 3-0 :S

2008-01-26 18:24:01
well Venezuela's out now. Fight between Colombia,Peru,Cymru and Australia as a very slight outside chance.

(B)3. Uruguay 18 +39
(C)3. Scotland 18 +22
(D)3. Colombia 18 +18 (Vs Australia)

It's now a shootout between Peru, Wales, Australia and Colombia. Uruguay are almost certainly safe, Scotland and Colombia are not.

Cymru's looking the best chance at this stage given they play 150minutes after the others are played, can easily change to a more offensive tactic if required in that time.
2008-01-26 18:36:20
I think what will happen is Colombia will get the point they require, leaving Scotlands goal difference as the target for Wales and Peru, who would both need 10. I'm backing Peru if anyone.
2008-01-26 18:38:47
most likely I'd agree, although Cymru have the last shot at it so I'd back them over Peru at this stage.

What happens if the goal difference is tied? If Australia beat Colombia it's possible to have a 3-way tie
2008-01-26 18:43:47
goal difference then goals scored I believe.
2008-01-26 18:58:09
Yup.

Only the 32 best teams qualify for the finals, according to:
1. Final standing in the qualification group
2. Points in the qualification group
3. Goals scored
4. Goals conceded
5. The number of victories
6. Ranking points at the time of the draw.

Not sure why GD isn't in there. :) #2.5 I guess.
