Subject: Is European Union good or bad thing?
I actually did not write to you it is just my idea about European Union.
i hope our Govn. will stop accession negotiations. it's such an embarassment for us. we feel humiliated. that's what most of us think. i mean the moment our Prime Minister left Davos you should have seen us. all the Turks went crazy as if we won the World Cup beating Brasil. it was a moment of extreme happiness. we all felt proud of him. even the ones who hate him cheered for him. and we expect the same attitude towards the EU so that we can start considering other options.
im downloading it to put in the list of films to see ;)
Sorry bro but nobody thought good things about our Prime Minister.Everyone know he left Davos becouse he tried to affect us.But our public is not that stupid they can understand it.
mmm seems so interesting the argument, in fact the girl who lived with me, ersa hassir, was so beautifull too
Yeah i got your point but your example is not good.

atually I'm from turkish origin and neither me nor my parents liked this action.... This guy actually only thinks about his own benefits. In my eyes he just tires to increase his own welath, buy buying a new ship for his son for example who just had finished school^^. In my opininon he isn't good for anything...he doesn't even know to seperate state and religion. And if you make such a move on a conference you have to keep your line and not change your mind every now and then when necessary or when you see a new opportunity or benefit....But obviously turkish citizens are overall content with as they elect him over and over again....^^
Anyway as I don't consider him as a real leader I also don't really care about him.....so back to topic: I don't believe that turkey will ever be a part of europe....I mean if you try to be a member of the EU for over 50 years without any succes and several other contries are successfull in a much shorter period of time you should really ask yourself whether you are really welcome in europe....^^ ;) That doesn't mean that I'm against turkey to be a member of the EU but I'm really doubtfull about wether it will ever happen......

Turkey is welcome in Europe. The fact that some semi-nationalist leaders like Sarkozy says otherwise doesn't make it true. The fact that Turkey hasn't become a member yet is more due to issues with Cyprus, Armenia and the Kurds that still need to be resolved. If these are resolved and Turkey lives up to the Copenhagen Criteria I see absolutely no problems with Turkey becoming a member. Religion, culture etc. plays no role (remember the fact that there are huge differences in culture and religion within Europe itself).
PS. To whoever said that there were no problems with the Kurds, that's just bullshit.

let's clarify something here. we don't have problems with the kurds but we do have problems with the kurds who support the terrorist organization called pkk.
Our former prime minister and president Turgut Özal was Kurdish,
Bülent Arınç, speaker of the Turkish Parliament is Kurdish,
70 of the government party members are Kurdish,
Atatürk's right-hand man İsmet İnönü was Kurdish and he was elected as the second president of the republic,
Cemal Gürsel, another President was Kurdish,
the current minister of Internal Affairs is Kurdish,
the former minister of Education was Kurdish.
we had and still have many other Kurdish cabinet members,
lots of Kurdish businessmen,
Kurdish singers and actors are on TV all day.
The president of Fenerbahçe is Kurdish,
national team players Altıntop brothers and Mehmet Yıldız are Kurdish.
they are all Kurdish and they curse pkk too. because they know pkk is a terrorist organization and they are not represented by pkk. actually pkk even kills the Kurdish people who dont want to join them.
see? things are not like you are told. we are gettin along well with the Kurds who want to live in peace. but HELLO! don't expect us to tolerate a terrorist organization and it's supporters. no country would.
