Subject: Is European Union good or bad thing?

2010-03-17 19:43:04
In 2 years I think you will join the EU.

In 5, 6 or 7, Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Bosnia and maybe Turkey and Albania.

maybe Turkey? Never, we can't join!.. and i think serbia can but macedoina, crna gora and bih cant join because they are balkan country and EU chooses a country who has got a normal economy but bih, mace. and crna gora have no very good economy but it makes me surprising, how could bulgaria join? :S

recent enlargement has more to do with political than economic reasons

Turkey is in Asia, so they can not join to EU.

Although, other Turkish country is in EU - I mean Germany of course.

Back in topic... European Union is anti-democratic (vide Lisabon Treaty and voting or "voting" in Ireland, Czech Republic and other) ), so I don't like this society. Especially I don't like red pigs like Schultz, pedophile Cohn-Bendit, or Barosso.

Lot of misunderstanding here!

A) There is no interesting here in Iceland to go to EU! Special after the behavior of some countries.
B) Iceland have always said we will pay to Holland and GB even so it´s clear after the EU rules that we don´t need it. But we will newer accept the crazy condition this nations have tried to push and we not too accept the behavior they have used. 95% in the national voting stress that.
C) Most Icelanders don´t like the idea of EU at all.

Too, there is no connect between the bills and EU or FME. But the stress things is that there is no interest in Iceland to go in EU.

better than Soviet Union...

its like asking if democracy is good - its not, but it best from the rest...

The EU is not anti-democratic. The Lisbon treaty makes the whole thing a whole lot more democratic. And the fact that you don't like some of the people really doesn't say anything.

Are you sure???
2010-03-18 15:43:22
Last result, more than 75% against it if I remember correct! And why should we have interest?
2010-03-18 15:47:08
I really must say this article is increable bad work! There is one political group which have made everybody crazy about this talk about EU. The only political group which want to go in. But after year after year talk about it other political group say, ok we against it/neutral but lets the nation decided.

Many of Icelanders feel the same. Say lets vote and say no.

Every referendum in Europa (Netherlands, France and Ireland) says "no" this treaty. But later, national gouverments signed, neverthless society's opposition. So, this is democratic?

Why Ireland voted twice? If result in first referendum were be "yes", EU organized second referendum second time?

This is democratic? This is Soviet democratic - peoples voting to the right effect, or have nothing to say.
2010-03-18 21:09:53
Why Ireland voted twice? If result in first referendum were be "yes", EU organized second referendum second time?

There was a proposal, Irish people said no. Than there have been another proposal and the answer was yes.
And please... stop comparing EU to USSR. I know eastern european people still have an open wound, but comunism is over once and for all! I don't know how democratic Poland is, but certainly in Italy (who never had nothing to do with soviet union) things couldn't go worse, so EU is our last hope to live in a democracy.
2010-03-18 23:08:45
There was a proposal, Irish people said no. Than there have been another proposal and the answer was yes.

Pleas, stop joking. It was rape of Green Island.

And please... stop comparing EU to USSR.

System is generally the same - Peoples voting "no"? So what? We can repeat referendum and won, for second time, third time and then tenth time if necessary. This is democratic? This is bullshit.
2010-03-19 00:17:06
I don't know exacly how it works in Ireland, but in Italy referendum can be promoted even from normal citizen: you have to collect something about 250000 sign (something like that) and than the entire population will be called to say yes or not.

Peoples voting "no"? So what? We can repeat referendum and won, for second time, third time and then tenth time if necessary.

I'm sure this isn't what happened. And yes, this is democratic. A totalitarism would cheat at referendum, or simply would never ask people's opinion.
2010-03-19 01:44:45
Imo he does have a point sayingrepeating referendums is antidemocratic or a grey area... Here in holland we said no, but the parliament just went through w a revised version... Not that democratic either...
2010-03-19 15:13:15
It was a different referendum about a different question.
