very good theory.
The loke-look-alike could also "possess" Claire if you she really died in the rocket-attack (some people say that is the reason why she is now "infected", because she died and wasn't buried. Like Sayid), so it would make sense for loke-look-alike Claire to tell Kate not to bring him back.
Hmm yes, Charlie was on the list. So that makes sense. Remember that Hurley also had to fight against his imagination to not kill himself? When Jack runs after his father he also almost got killed. Atm it looks like Jakob brings people to the island and man-in-black tries to eliminate as many as he is able to. At least that is what he did at first and the "infection" also seems to contribute to this (like french guy trying to kill Rousseau, Claire killing that guys from the temple), although he now does want to use Sawyer, Claire and Jin somehow without directly killing them. But still there are many things "off", for example it seems like it was Richard helping Ben killing Dharma. Richard was on Jakobs side even in "jughead", so I guess Jakob would also be responsible for killing all that guys including Kandidates. What again would not make a lot of sense.. ^^

A lot of eliminations can be linked back to Smokey. I'll start with the 815 flight
Aaron - Left because Smokey took his mum
Boone - Smokey lead Locke to the plane
Charlie - Conned into killing himself
Eko - Killed directly
Locke - This is a complicated one. Basically it comes down to Smokey making John look special and Ben jealous, which had been going on for a long time. Smokey then sets up John by telling him he has to kill himself.
Michael - This one is clever but it amounts to creating desire by withdrawl. Not including everything that happens before he leaves, when you tell someone they can't do something they'll go out of their way to prove you wrong. He's also told he'll be making up for what he did so not only ends up killing himself but other potential candidates.
Nathan - It's possible that The Others have been taking orders from Smokey instead of Jacob all along.
Nikki and Paulo - The Medusa spider was confirmed to be Smokey
Seth the Pilot - Killed directly
Shannon - Followed the whispers
Walt - His powers supposedly were uncontrollable, or maybe it was just Smokey. So he left.
The burial thing is interesting but Claire didn't seem very dead when Sawyer retrieved her and Smokey can't yet get into the temple.
As for Richard wanting to kill Dharma, Richard doesn't actually make the decisions. It's possible that the Dharma people weren't candidates and Jacob wanted rid of them or again, Smokey conned Richard, just like he's done with everyone else.
Imagine this as a game between two gods. Jacob picks his candidates for something, there are rules about how much he's supposed to tell them. Smokey's job is to eliminate the candidates via proving they're not suitable and killing them, getting them to leave or getting them to kill themselves.
I'd guess that's what Smokey was getting across to Sawyer. You can stay and I'll keep trying to off you, you can go with Jacob or you can simply leave.
The question is, why does Smokey want them gone? The thing that's confusing me is this.
This game has been played before and Smokey supposedly won. The conversation at the beach is basically Smokey saying "Why are you making me play this again?" and Jacob replying that he only needs to win once to end it. So if Smokey won and he's still trapped, what the hell is he trying to do this time?

Here's a theory.
Let's say this game has been played before and neither side won, it ended in a draw because Smokey couldn't eliminate all the candidates and Jacob couldn't find someone to do whatever it is he wants. It's possible that Richard was the one remaining candidate and is stuck not being able to age because if he ages then he'd die.

Yea, that's pretty much waht we know, two powers figthing to show that humanity is worth it or not, basicaly, but we know that since season 5, from that talk between them on the beach. But I don't know if they are gods, I don't think smokey is a god, at least, after he kills Brahm and the rest of Ilana's group, Ben asked him "what are you?" and he replies "I'm not a what, I'm a who" or something like that, so I'd say that if some of them is a god that's Jacob and he has smokey as a prisoner, that's why smokey hates him. I wouldn't be surprised if that bad guy turn out to be Jacob. :P

yea, that would have been the list of kills that I would have made also. And of course there were quite a lot of almost kills due to imagination things.
I first also thought about two gods, but MIB said, that he was human before. I think he does not lie. So I tend to that egyptian theory of two humans under different egyptian gods that are not able to die because of curses and rituals, one wants to proove that humans are worth to live (jacob), and the other one tries the contrary (mib). If mib wins/it ends as a draw, then the world will end as planned. If jakob wins, and the human factors can be changed, then the humans have the right to live on.
I also did like the Kain and Abel theory that developped after seeing the kid with the bloody arms (Jakob as Abel, MIB as Kain and they both are on this island until they resolve their differences, the two in the cave would really be adam and eve), although I doubt that this one is true. In America such a thing would probably be seen as blasphemy.

Son of a bitch! I was just looking through the preview video for tonight's episode and saw 2 preview videos for next week's episode Dr Linus "ABC wouldn't be so stupid to give away any spoilers from the Sundown episode" I thought to myself. I was wrong and I just got a massive spoiler for tonight. Dickheads!
I watched first series again in half a week. I think I will manage to have watched all episodes again before the ending, I think. Quite infected from Lost-virus again ^^
Yea, spoilers are bad. They had some massive spoilers before, so I don't watch that previews and sneak-peaks.

Have happened to me before, I saw an annoucement that said "watch spoiler", but I have watched all the episodes that existed till' that moment, so I thought I could never find out something that I didn't know already, that's the way I found out that Faraday was going to die in the hands of his mother the next episode. :P

Just watched Sundown. Can't really say how good it was because the surprise ending was spoiled for me. Having said that, everything else went exactly how I predicted.
Well.. I personally wasn't that surprised even though I haven't seen the trailer. For me that was quite a lame episode, but maybe it will be better as soon as I watch it a second time with less other things beside watching the episode.. :D
But ok, we got some answers.

Great episode. Seemingly Jacob's visitor has arrived but which side they're on is anyone's guess.

Yea, I don't know either, when Ben was running things on the island he was his enemy, now, we never confirmed if Jacob had any contact with Ben or if Ben was always manipulated by Smokey, if Ben was always manipunated by Smokey, there's a good chance Widmore is in Jacob's side, but otherwise he probably is on Smokey's, although Widmore always seemed kinda a selfish and overambitious person, so there's a chance he is only on his side trying to take control of the island.
Also a thing I predicted happened(posibly) Smokey told Ben that he woud be the best person to be the keeper of the island, so either there are candidates to replace Jacob and Smokey or there only 1 position for the job and candidates of Jacob and candidates of Smokey, and Jacob and Smokey want his(or any of his) candidates to win it.
About chapter 6 it made me think everything that we see happening outside the island could be Smokey fulfilling Sayid's wishes, cause it was part of the bargain they made.

Well this is an american series. So I guess it will all turn out to be their own destiny that they make on the island. So the losties will somehow manage to let the island drown in the past at the end (thus their plane will never crash), possibly with killing themselves by it (huge sacrifice for the greater good).
For me personally there is no other possible ending to that series.
I must say I really hate Ben. I hate how he looks, how his voice trembles when he speaks, I hate everything about him. But this episode was really really good. It did put an end to all the things we have seen from him. Urge for power, the love (?) for his "daughter", his selfishness, his intrigues and lies, his manipulation etc. I did like that very much. It is nice to also have gotten lots of hints (Richard, Illana) in general.
For me this is after the Locke episode and before the first part of the pilot the best of the newest season. The last season really flies and drops on the character they are focussed on. Kate and Saijd and also a bit Jack for example are just flat characters. Their story has been told, there is nothing more to say and develop and see with them. That's why those episodes have been very boring for me. Well.. I will hate it as soon as the Sun/Jin episode will come.. but I am really looking forward to Desmond (and most probably Aaron), Lapidus (maybe) and Hurleys episode.
I would have loved for Ben to die as well in the end of that episode.
Miles is in great danger now. His skill has been used for important part of the story and for a joke. I fear that he will have to die soon.

Something has just been pointed out to me that I missed before. As Ben stabs Jacob, Jacob touches Ben. Could be important if it means Ben becomes a candidate again.
