Egyptian culture, religion and language were pretty much dead by that point and had been for centuries. While it's possible that some minor religious cult still practicing the old ways found its way to the island, this seems a bit contrived. To me it appears that the writers simply left this unexplained (which is fine) or abandoned exploring this area any further due to changes in direction of the story.

The dates aren't known exactly anyway (which might be deliberate) so it's open.

I want to know what's on these extra 20 minutes that got edited. Have to wait for Blu-Ray to find out

I can not believe you like your final
What questions answered
The mystery lingered for six seasons

what black smoke?
How are lost on an island?
How to create black smoke?
others why they came to the island?
how Desmond can see the future?
How can Miles hear the dead people?
What's the secret numbers?
How can a man be immortal?

hundreds of questions like this ...
If you like you are an idiot :)

So basically everybody died (most on the island), some not (like the 6 who escaped with Lapidus) and in the alt timeline they are all together and they are death (so after a certain period of time, which could be like 70 years later, since Kate or Miles were not that old when they left the island on that plane...)
And in this alt timeline (which is not really a timeline then) you see the memories everybody got on the island and you see all the connections. It was more like a meeting with your old friends who all died and you have a nice chat about that things what happened in all your lives (the island).

I am not too happy with the ending, although it is not bad either. Some more explanations would have been nice. And now the meaning of the ''alt timeline'' is clear, I do not like it. Although I can understand it, because important themes in Lost were always ''Fate'' or ''Destiny''.

what black smoke?

Were you expecting a scientifically valid explanation?

How are lost on an island?

I don't understand what you're asking

How to create black smoke?

This has already been shown

others why they came to the island?

Part of the Dharma intiative who came to study, in accordance with the Valanzetti equation

how Desmond can see the future?

There was a whole episode dedicated to this but it's complicated stuff. Go and watch The Constant and listen to Daniels explanation

How can Miles hear the dead people?

The same way Hurley can see dead people. He was blessed by Jacob

What's the secret numbers?

Jacobs system of manipulation. Everyone was assigned a number and these numbers were then repeated like some kind of psychological trick in order to control the candidates.

How can a man be immortal?

If you ever expected an answer to this then it's you who are the idiot.

I just watched it. And i've read all previous posts about the finale. I am just dissapointed. The ending was worse than expected. It was like it had nothing to do with the whole 6 series.

one more, why jack didnt become new smokey? cause he was in the light afterall....
2010-05-25 20:14:53
You could write your own answer for that. Keep in mind that MIB isn't actually Smokey, MIB died.
My theory would be that whatever MIB released when he touched the light couldn't be released twice. When Jacob was talking to Richard he explained it as the wine in the bottle, malice, jealousy etc Once it escaped from the cave, it obviously wasn't there anymore.
2010-05-25 20:18:12
so you wanna tell me that jealousy, malice and all that kind of stuff was killed? lol
2010-05-25 20:23:53
Just one thing to all your answers. The EPIC FAIL of the ending is that you want/have to explain what it all meant. The series had to explain that by itself.

I could ask you more questions like the others, but ... i dont give a shit, i am just dissapointed.
2010-05-25 20:24:23
A physical manifestation of, yep. Whatever it was, once Desmond let the light go out, Smokey was stuck in a mortal physical form.
You're never going to let a logical real world answer but in terms of making sense within the Lost world, yeah that's possible.

if so then how MIB saw his dead mother on the island? smokey hasnt been released yet.
2010-05-25 20:29:50
Wasn't Smokey. The whispers are ghosts of people trapped on the island, quite how some get trapped and others don't is something I'd like an answer to.
Ah I get it now! It's the same as with what happened at the end. You can't move on until you've found your peace and let go. That's why Claudia was still around

I want an answer as to how Mother managed to kill an entire colony who'd survived for 40 years.

hmm i have an idea..

maybe their mother was a smokey, she cant kill herself directly, so played that trick with mib to make him fell a genuine desire to kill her... Lets just say its they only way to do so
she already knew what would happen if u go to the light because she said it "much worse than death", so its not the first time,
so back to my first question why jack didnt become smokey?
2010-05-26 08:52:04
becouse he didn't die there...
2010-05-26 09:04:09
MIB neither
