I will have to put myself to the bunch of disappointed guys. Sorry about that.

I just watched it. And I think it is bad. Okay, they wrote something differently, that nobody would expect, but people wouldn't expect it, because it makes no sense. I mean they could have told us that they all are just aliens in the alt. timeline that replayed lost with blank brains because they liked the characters or something o.O

You know what a good ending would have been?
- They all staying on the island to protect it (live together or die alone)
- They all dieing on the island to protect the world (well ok, classical, but still I would have been satisfied as long as nobody survives and the world never will know about their sacrifice)
- They all dieing in the beginning of the series with the crash and the island being the part where you get sorted for going to afterlife (well don't really care if mythological heaven or hell things or whatever)
- The ending somehow involving love and having love saving the day (well Kate and Jack or Sawyer)
- The whole game starting again with new jakob but old MIB (or Ben as new smokie) and a new plane coming down after everyone died to save the day and world
- F***** wormhole theories between both timelines, or anything involving science
- The alternative timeline being AFTER the conventional timeline and the conventional timeline collapsing and transporting the characters over
- both timelines collapsing, because the universe fell apart because of all the paradox things that happened and the universe being slurped together into the big crash
- the wizard did it (Futurama fans hello)

I would have liked tons of endings. Really. I am not that picky. I would have been satisfied with few answers, if there would have been a good ending. But you know what? If you want to see a good ending watch the complete "six feet under"-series. I hoped to get that same sensation and now am left utterly disappointed.

"How LOST should have ended"

I laughed out loud when I saw this image, but it isn't really my point of view :p

Today I had a good chat with a friend of mine about LOST (and its ending) and we both thought that it was bad, how longer we talked about it, how worse it was ;).
We concluded that Lost was great in the first 3 seasons, but it went worse afterwards. The whole time travel thing was pretty bad. They made a lot of errors with it and also not everything was really useful or necessary.
We thought that it would have been nicer if the alt. universe was a parallel universe in stead of the purgatory thing. And that the memories between the 2 universes (1 on the island, the second in real life, if the bomb worked and Oceanic 815 landed and you got a parallel universe) could exchange. You could live in the ''real world'' with memories about the island and the development a character got on the island, would have an effect in the ''real world''. If they did it like that, you got the benefits of the strong character development in Lost and your ending wouldn't have been so lame with ''we are all death'', which is just like ''it was a dream''. Pretty weak.
In our opinion, it would have been a big improvement ;) Too bad they didn't ;)

Still better than what happened to Heroes :|

But Heroes is not yet over, right?

Actually, while the concept of time travel did lead to lots of errors, it also did answer quite some things and the episodes with timetravel are some of the best of LOST imho. For me it was a smart move to bring them in to give LOST a complete twist and open a complete new part of science for the fans to speculate with. It kind of startet with Desmond and his flashes of Charlie dieing, then with the legendary episode the constant (where Desmond almost got lost between the times) and then that flashes giving the Losties the opportunity to be Dharma, others and to cause things they have seen (well the incident, Ben turning "bad" through being shot by Sayid and being revived - although they never really consequently explained or followed up on that.. well would have been even better if they had influenced more things, like helping to build the cabin or something).
Well I think Lost would not have survived without time travel and the innovation created by it. Of course now when we look back at it, it is just senseless, not quite as senseless as the flash sideways where everything is irrelevant, but still not that important. But it was needed to keep suspense.

I like the ending. Ok, the door and the white light was a bit cheesy but the characters went into the unknown and I felt like I moved with them: the series ended and neither I nor the characters had all the answers.

And to those disappointed with the ending: if you enjoyed the 6 year ride, then that's the most important point!

im so glad i stopped watching it at the beginning of series 2. Watched the ending the other night there and thought "oh im so glad i didnt waste my time watching all the series". Totally duff and naff ending
2010-05-30 20:56:32
How can you possibly form a full opinion when you've missed 5 years? The more I think about the ending the more I like it.
2010-05-30 21:02:36
the whole oh were all dead routine i think laboured on me as i had just watched Ashes to Ashes from the beginning and thats what they did. I have also watched fringe from the beginning and that had a pretty strange ending to it as well which could prove wrong for the next series.

Overall they really could have ended the show with a boom instead of the heaven and purgatory meaning. Yawn! been done many many times before in shows and its as bad a cop out as "OH I WAS DREAMING" in stories or films.
2010-05-30 21:07:39
:@

I hope you're not saying they were dead all along, because I've been hearing this online all week and it's rage inducing because it's complete nonsense, it's even worse when it's coming from someone who hasn't even watched the show in 5 years.
2010-05-30 21:22:02
nah, it is better when coming from someone who hasn't watched it then from someone who should know better. But to be honest, I would have liked that explanation/ending better than the one we got :P
2010-05-30 21:23:51
You'd have preferred that "They were dead all along" ending. Nope, that truly would have made everything pointless.
