Yep. 2 endings. In the finale 2 different "stories" ended, one for each "time line"

Oh, I thought their was a complete alternate ending. I know about the flash sideways etc. ;-)

so why do the characters still act good after the light is out

Like show has no million plot holes anyway ? :)

What i know is that im happy i havent watched the show. I only watched 2 or 3 episodes and didnt kept watching it. I now hear all my friends swearing about the ending and pretty much about the whole show. :)

The more I think about it I don't think the light was anything to do with the real world, I'd say it was more linked to the afterlife. Fact is, after Desmond came into contact with the electromagnetism from it he was able to see into it.
When the light went out Smokey, who was already dead, didn't die or move on, he simply went back to being mortal again. Personal theory but I think the light either represented the afterlife or was the key/path/link to it.

I don't really get what you want to say.

When the light went out the forces of the island seem to have stopped (so smokie with no powers, jack could be killed by smokie directly even though he was the new jacob, the magical water stopped) and the island seems to drop slowly (although this was very bad shown, no money for special effects?). I see no other effect there and it seems like all the special things like "light will go out everywhere", "everyone you love will be lost" etc. where just empty words. What makes the island quite useless and takes away the epic idea of it for me :(
